  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You're spicing up your beliefs with your private fantasies now,
Am I?

I believe if you read the link I supplied, you will see that it agrees almost word-for-word with what she said.
I think it's a recognition that religion no longer has the same authority as it once did; that science is not [sic] the game in town; and that nothing can really be taken seriously unless it's confirmed by science.

How do scientists "trample" the word of God. And of course we know that your Bible is not the word of God. It has too many self contradictions.
You answered your own question (assuming your period was meant to be an interrogation point).

See, there is your error. You assume that the Bible is the "Word of God". Is your god perfect? I will assume that you will answer yes. Then why isn't his "divinely inspired word" perfect?

Forget the fact that the Bible is massively wrong when it comes to science. So for right now we will forget that the Bible has a false creation myth, a false flood myth, a false explanation for the start of language, says that the Earth is flat and many other factual errors. How about the many times that the Bible contradicts itslef?

A List Of Biblical Contradictions

The Thinking Atheist - Bible Contradictions

And many more such articles. I am sure that some of these contradictions can be explained away. Some cannot. Key to me is how even the resurrection story varies from Gospel to Gospel. You would think they would have gotten together and gotten their story straight.

So science is off-limits to Satan during the Tribulation period, is it?

How your fantasy works is up to you. If you feel the need to make a link in your mind between the method for understanding the world around us and satan then that's really your problem and no one else's.

Is that why you're an atheist? because you 'understand the world around us'?

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Yes, even as a Christian myself (and a former young earth creationist), I find this "double-minded" view of science among some quite interesting. So many science-denying Christians speak of science with such contempt---and yet so clearly long to have science somehow confirm their beliefs.

But young earth creationists have tended to be successful in one regard: They've convinced even their critics that various of their dogmas have been Christian dogma for many centuries. No. Plenty of Christian theologians rejected the six 24-hour "day" interpretation of Genesis 1 and a "young earth" was not something everyone assumed. Indeed, modern YEC dogma basically "evolved" from Seventh Day Adventist teachings from Ellen White, Price, et al, thanks to the efforts of Whitcomb and Morris.

And the claim that God (for reasons never explained from the Bible itself) somehow ERASED all evidence of a global flood is certainly of recent origin. When modern science went looking for evidence of a global flood and couldn't find it, YECs found themselves in the often self-contradictory position of insisting that the lack of evidence made complete sense (because "God wanted it that way") and grasping at the tiniest of possible clues whenever they thought they saw some trifle of evidence which they thought might contribute to their case.

Ironically, the Bible itself never claims that the flood was global in scope. It only states that the ENTIRE LAND would be destroyed and all of the descendents of Adam (the bearers of the Image of God.) And the Bible also fails to say that ALL LIVING THINGS would be represented on the ark. No, it restricts the pairs (and sevens of pairs) to NEPHESH animals, "soulish animals" and no provisions were made for the majority of life forms on earth, including plants.

Is the "Antichrist" a god?

So you've got Jesus, Satan, two Antichrists, and "God". Are there any other gods that you believe in? Are they all omnipotent? If not, it should be a very brief 'battle'.

Did you work out what falsifiability means yet?

No. Why, is that your justification for trying to link science with satan? If it is, your fantasy world must be very cartoonish.

You know my justification, don't you?

All you've said in those links is you think science and satan/evil/all things bad are linked in your fantasies. That means that the real world and satan are for you interchangeable. That limits your own private brand of religion to the inside of your head, which is where it will stay.

You guys don't understand a thing, do you?
Considering that you insist on "Science can take a hike" while claiming to "Hold science to a higher standard " or something similar then suffice it to say; You are right we don't. We don't understand the "Hike" part with the "holding science to ...." Part. The two are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE!

Perhaps you could shine a light and clear this matter up? It is very confusing as it is tantamount to someone saying "Religion can take a hike" and then go say: "I hold God to a higher standard".

Is it just me or is it just me

It's really quite simple.

Where miracles are involved, science must stand down and allow it to happen.

If science never took a hike, then the Ark would have been torn apart by stresses placed on it, Jesus could not have walked on water, etc.

Thus, if someone tells me the Flood could not have happened because E=MC[sup]2[/sup] or the Rapture cannot occur because G=m[sub]1[/sub]m[sub]2[/sub]/r[sup]2[/sup] ... they will get a "science can take a hike" from me.
