I watched "The Cross and the Switchblade" last night. It was a film in 1970 - a story of a preacher who brought a group of gang youths to Christ. It was a touching story.

Yes - a very good movie. Have you read either of the books it was based on? the story was entirely true.

My favorite scene in that was when Wilkerson (played by Pat Boone) had Cruz and his gang to take up the offering.

No, I didn't read the books. I suppose the stories must be good.

I like the scene where he appeared outside the door at 3am. That just showed how determined he was.

Definatly. Both of them were VERY determined. Wilkerson went on from that experience to start Teen Challenge in New York, an outreach ministry to teens on the streets, most of whom were in gangs.

Nicky went on to be a very successful evangelist in the Latino community.
