  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm gonna try not to be long winded. Lately, i've been thinking more than usual about stuff.

Ever since my "flight" from Liberty University and Lynchburg, VA (a lot of rather unpleasant events occurred as well as words being said) in november 2008, and getting my job at Dollar Tree this past april... i've been wanting to do so much more than just be cooped up in my hometown, working the same job day in and day out. could say i'm getting bored... or that old addage is applying again (Grandma put it as "you just can't go home again"). Please don't misunderstand, I do enjoy my work.

Part of me wants to just do assembly work-at-home jobs along with the retail and get a debt consolidation loan to help pay off the $20K of debt I have, save up the extra, and try to get a job in trucking.

Other says, stay in town and trying to go to the local community college again... but it may turn out like the last 2 times [getting burned out and failing again].

If I wanted to go into trucking, it'd be near the new year that I'd be able to start it, but it's about the same for college. so thankfully, there's plenty of time for praying about it and hoping somehow God'll speak... but it's the waiting that bothers me.
Prayer about all of this would be appreciated.

Please and thank you...

Jeremy

Those assemble at home jobs are mostly scams. I would stay far away from them.

Trucking can be interesting. I've been talking to my wife lately about getting a CDL and doing cross country driving for companies that are hiring (and there are a lot of them). I just don't know if that's what I want to do. It's like a last resort thing at this point.

Trucking isn't exactly a booming business at the moment. Many, many truckers are laid off without any work. The ones who are working aren't working full time. It's not an ideal time to get into it but if you could still do your training.

My dad is a truck driver and has been ever since I can remember.

If you are going to have children, don't go into truck driving. Please don't go into truck driving.

Driving cross country may sound cool for a while. But its not cool to your kids when they don't see you for 3 days.

I understand what your looking for, your looking basically for a higher meaning to life.

The world is already searching for that and they do it by, buying new homes, new cars, getting new jobs, going back to school.

What you need is depth to life, life with meaning. I can think of one book off the top of my head that you might like called "tangible kingdom" you really dont need to move from where you are at you just need to take things to the next level. Start meeting people, going to bible studies, serving your community. Take your job to the next level by being more friendly, more helpful, appreciating that you have a job, spreading the "word", and making friends with your co-workers. Most importantly add depth to you relationship with the Lord by studying more in depth in to the bible itself, look at the hebrew meanings of the Word (a free program called ISA2 can help), find online studies (I study at www.yesodey.com).
