With the constant background noise of the mainstream media and its filtering of valuable information, combined with the constant motion of our busy lives, it's fair to say that it is difficult for individuals to acquire a well informed opinion. Many things which people brush off as "conspiracy theory" - often out of ignorance - are in reality based in fact. Control of information is one of the most effective means of controlling an entire population. The father of modern propaganda, Ed Bernays (who consulted with the CIA on multiple occasions), demonstrated this idea in his book "Propaganda", saying "Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society [organized habits, and opinions] constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country....We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of."
