  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Always write about what you know. Tap into your interests, hobbies, experiences, even fetches. We all have something we can tap into. You are a walking, talking book. Your backbone is the binding, your brain, the index. The possibilities are endless!

Not all writer's adhere to these rules, but I have two major outlets/muses for creativity: my dreams and themes.

God has proven more than once that there is power in dreams. Keep a dream journal if you have to, write down ones that strike you as story potential, and get to writing in the morning.

That, or you could approach a thematic element, or a moral, or an issue that you feel strongly about that you feel you could craft a story around. I've written, for example, about stopping child abuse, but in a fantasy setting; what could have been a sociological essay or speech becomes an allegory.

I hope that helped.

If you can't think of what you want to write as a book, don't write a novel. You should have a clear idea as to what you want to write in a novel. Write a few short stories, or brainstorm even to get yourself started, and i find it interesting if you place some of your personality into one of your characters, then you'll see how different they can become when teh plot changes them and around them, and how they respond to stressful situations. yes, I'm talking like they have a mind of their own; that's one of the ways I know I'm onto something, when my characters become the players of a play, and my imaginary world the stage. But I always tend to see text as images, like a movie, and that is constantly evolving to what I'm reading.
