I currently go to a Chinese Anglican church, and I have been blessed ever since I went there (2-3 years ago, after I accepted Christ).
I'm also passionate about music, especially contemporary praise music, such as Hillsong United, Delirious and certain gospel songs like Cover the Earth and Kirk Franklin's He Reigns.
I currently play the keyboard at my worship team and also lead a high school fellowship at my church. However, lately, I really don't think things have been working out......
I have been to my friends' churches, and their worship teams are so blessed! So many talented people and commited people, whereas my team has members who simply aren't as commited.
As well, I really enjoy going to English services (I have been in Canada since I was 11, born and raised in Hong Kong), services where we young people can freely worship the Lord, instead of having to sit down very reserved like at my current church.
There's also a lack of youth connection at my church. Before my time, there was a great group of young people who got connected with each other and had frequent gatherings. But now they are in their 30s, for my generation we really don't have anything going on at all. Of course I am trying to organize events etc, but I don't know if I can do anything to change their hearts! That's a God-sized task that only God can do!
So the thought of switching churches has really lingered in my mind... has anyone been in my situation before? Any suggestion for me?
I feel a lot of times as if I'm wasting my time, and that God has other things for me to do elsewhere. I feel that I'm 20 yet I have friends who have better opportunities to use their gifts even when they are only 16.
I have really been wanting to leave, but I also feel guilty that in some sense I am not trusting God to somehow bring a revival at my church that will change EVERYTHING.
