Should Christians be concern about what is happening around the world and start to sound the alarm OR to live life as everything is still the same, the norm?
Ever hear of the phrase...peace starts with the man in the mirror?

In order to promogate change, one must be the humble and loving guy.

This is contagious, and has a domino effect. Just as rage has the same effect.

And while you are spreading peace, whether you make a huge difference or not, the soul benefits the most.

no christian protestents should ignore them and continue PROTESTing against the Catholic Church.
What a wonderfully insightful and productive post. Thanks for your valued contribution towards ecumenicism.

Back on topic -
Christians are responding to the world's issues, gradually. The more forcefully we get on board with addressing global warming, poverty and aids, though, the better.

Men go from bad to worse!

In the big city I see the hand of God moving profoundly!

In the smaller suburbs it doesn't seem quite as pronounced, but the 'city folk' do come by now and then.

I'm a big city girl (Toronto), and the darkness here is GREAT!

Nevertheless, I see Jesus working in and through ALL creation!

The end is near!

I'm not sure I see "global warming", poverty, and aids as the world's major problems.

As I see it, the largest threat in the world, are a group of people set on the destruction of an entire race of people and any persons who don't also believe that that race should be exterminated.

There are some truly disturbing signs in the world, today. As I see it, the answer is to continue to seek to know Christ and to share Him with those around us.

I believe, as the body of Christ, we should walk in Christ and allow the Spirit of God to manifest that which He has called each of us to do.

He has a definite personal plan for each of us to follow, preordained steps for us to walk in, so I'd say, listen for His voice behind us and follow that path.

What's He doing behind you?
Got your back to the temple do ya?
[Hebrews 12:5]

Our spirits are saved, our souls are BEing saved, are body will not see salvation this side of Heaven..

That being said, the FILLING of the Spirit
Ephesians 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit
Is in the SOUL!

So that we can serve in NEWNESS of Life, Christ's Life, not our own, but to DENY ourselves and worship God!

Who called you narrow-minded, margim? Only you.

I wasn't attacking you at all, only disagreeing with you on what each of us thinks are the major problems in the world.

First, I don't believe in human-caused global warming. I don't think most climatologists do either. I also think it's a sign of man's arrogance to think that would could actually change the temperature of the entire planet, especially in such a short period of time.

Second, at least in America, poverty is as much about an individual's life choices as anything else. I'm all for helping people to make the right choices to prosper, and to help impoverished people get to the point where they can make those choices, but I don't see poverty as an immenent threat on the same level as the threat of a second holocaust.

Third, and again this is from an American point of view, most HIV and AIDS cases here are linked to specific, dangerous behaviors. The fact that the HIV virus can, for the most part, be avoided by behavioral choices makes it much less threatening to me.

Sorry, it was a bad use of sarcasm on my part - I shouldn't have resorted to that. My apologies on that one.

That said, I vehemently disagree with you. I cannot believe how anyone could not regard poverty and aids as a particularly significant issue. Lets let gobal warming slide here, as its a particularly political issue in the US and I understand how various interests influence the way in which it is interepreted...

Your comments on poverty and aids represent distinct igorance at what is going on the 95% of the world living outside America... the world's major problems aren't determined by things that impact the 5% living inside the US border.

Its not a matter of choosing cigarettes over intelligent investments. We are talking people, community and countries that simply have no capacity to get themselves out of poverty, when countries like the US use over 1/4 of the worlds resources...

Its not a matter of no sex before marriage, or homosexuality... its a matter of a virus that is sweeping through countries in Africa and Asia, killing millions in its wake.

No amount of sharing Jesus' good news will do any good in the big scheme of things if millions die from causes that we ourselves can, and must, become part of the solution in.

no, I dont think think we should be alarmed, if we know the bible then we are not to be alarmed at others or happenings. we are to be wise and believe in jesus and be on the lookout for his return and love one another.

a wise budist I think it was that said christanity is a great idea, pitty they dont practice it, or words to that effect, I saw that on cnn teletext, quote of the day.in a way I think it is a good reminder to us to do our own role properly to the best of our ability and stop worrying about what others we have no control over do.

as for if we should stay the same, I dont think so, we should always try to improve and practice improving, and become born again of the spirit and see the spirit in others more and help and teach others, by example in our practice
