^ Here we have scripture proclaiming that Man is an animal, in accordance with evolutionary theory. It may not talk about evolution directly, but it at least supports TOE. Also, the person you were debating with is drastically wrong; evolution is by no means synonymous with Darwin - the theory dates as far back as the 4th century BC, and was espoused by numerous ancient philosophers from Zhuangzi to Anaximander to Archelaus.
Ah, but why should we take that any more literally than the six day creation belief, Mr. Mallon? Maybe God meant that the earth itself is the womb and He impregnated the earth with seeds from space... a la panspermia. Maybe God is speaking of the womb as the entire universe and the E.T.'s (i.e. 2001 a Space Odyssey) causes everything to happen.Why not? You can stretch it any way you want it once you leave the plain spoken expression as is seen in the Bible.
Yes, and anybody who's actually seen MacBeth at the theatre or on TV will know that it falls into the genre "dramatic writing" as opposed to the genre "historical writing" so whether it is intended literally in the context of telling a largely fictional story is irrelevant to whether it was intended to be "factual" or not.Any student of English that has read this knows very well that these words speak of the death (the literal death) of Macduff.
yes evolution is a fact. its the theory of it that is not. which way to many people over look. they say evolution meaning the theory when the two are not the same thing.Technically nothing in science is proven, as new evidence can always show current theories are wrong at least in some detail. Theory, in science, does mean well-established as very probably true through much study, observation, experimentation and successful prediction of consequences.
Evolution is a fact too. The problem of reconciling these two facts is due more to a limited imagination than to actual conflict.
