  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What scriptures are used to win souls?

Hello, I am curious what scriptures can help me spread the gospel and win souls over to Jesus. There have been many times I have wanted to spread the word, but was not sure how. Also, when I speak from my heart many ask for substantial evidence or scriptures. I would like to be better armed in his word for I can share it.

There are free gospel tracts online. Just google "free gospel tract" and you'll find many. A couple of examples:
Free printable Gospel Tracts
English Tracts

You need to understand yourself the gospel message before you explain it to others and be able to answer questions. There are many books or articles written to help you know how to do this and some churches have training programs. Preparation is very important.

You don't need to do anything terribly sophisticated, just care and try. And Jesus will do everything else. Jesus expects our lives to influence others to believe in Him. Evangelism is a lifestyle.

Don't be discouraged if you don't see fruit immediately. Paul planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase in His time.

God bless!

You can't ''force'' Jesus and the gospel of the Kingdom onto a person. The whole Bible is good.
And as for ''Win'' souls, perhaps a better term would be ''convert''
I guess what you can do is bring the topic of Christianity up in a conversation and let them ask YOU the questions!
I think when people get interested it gets exciting for the person doing the converting,I think we have to take it slow, let them absorb it all in...

God bless

Saturate your life with the Scriptures and be Christ to those around you. Reciting a bunch of verses at people will most likely not have the effect that you desire. In fact, it will probably be the opposite.

hi pp,

The Roman's Road is generally considered a good way to share your faith. You can find it online, but I believe the first step in any such effort is to establish some probing questions that might lead to understanding if someone's heart is tender to the message of salvation through our Lord.

There is a book out by William Fay, Share Jesus Without Fear, that gives examples of the kind of questions that you might ask to open up lines of communication with someone, especially if you're considering sharing with strangers. Things you might ask someone that you're sitting on a bus with for 20 minutes or so or standing in a long line or some such opportunity.

One of the drawbacks of sharing with strangers is that we so seldom really have enough time to find out anything about them unless we are in a situation where we will be with that person for at least 15-20 minutes. Mr. Fay does give examples where he has approached wait staff at restaurants and those he stands in line with at say the grocery store, etc. He does outline several Scripture verses and encourages you, rather than to just memorize them and say them to people, carry a copy of the Scriptures with you in your pocket or purse so that when and if the opportunity affords itself you can let them read the selected Scriptures themselves.

God bless you in your efforts to spread the gospel of salvation through God's Son, Jesus. I believe that it is good to spread the gospel in whatever way we can. Godly people like Billy Graham reach thousands, but as individuals we can also be a part of building up the kingdom of God one soul at a time.
In Christ, Ted

Also, don't engage people as if you have an agenda with them. Talking to them for a few minutes and then changing the conversation into a "get saved" campaign will make them feel as if they're nothing more than a tick mark in your book of how many people you converted. Thus I would recommend against going from person to person using some kind of tract or scripted speech. Get to know people, love them, engage them as people. Otherwise they won't care about your version of your god

This.

St. Seraphim of Sarov said "aquire the Spirit of peace and a thousand souls around you will be saved."

Our job isn't to "win souls" by preaching at people. Our job is to preach the living and real Jesus through His Gospel. It is Christ Himself who saves. The best thing we can do is not get in His way.

Love.

OP, have you read OG Mandino before? Although this is more related to the business side of things, I believe it can also be applied to anything you do. Everything you do has to be in love...

I will greet this day with love in my heart.

For this is the greatest secret of success in all ventures. Muscle can split a shield and even destroy life but only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of men and until I master this art I will remain no more than a peddler in the market place. I will make love my greatest weapon and none on whom I call can defend against its force.

My reasoning they may counter; my speech they may distrust; my apparel they may disapprove; my face they may reject and even my bargains may cause them suspicion; yet my love will melt all hearts liken to the sun whose rays soften the coldest clay.
