  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My point would be that if we were to take the apostles to task, we could accuse them of acting extra-Biblicaly. We could point our fingers at them and say "Hey, that's not in the Bible, so it's wrong." But how often has that happened?

We know that the apostles are the foundational stones of the Church, with Christ being the Chief Corner Stone, and the Church is being built upon them. So we have an example of the Church acting outside of scripture, and as you have already argued, through the guidance of it's true Head.

Seeing as this is a section of CF that deals with the leadership of the Church, we see a scriptural example of the leaders of the Church meeting it's need through the creation of an office that is new to history.

So often there are those who argue that there is no presidence for the creating of liturgical offices by the Church, and yet we have this wonderful example IN SCRIPTURE of the Church doing this very thing.

The creating of new Church offices is not against scripture, it is well within it's example and practice.
