  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok so I am 17 and an HS Senior.... My dream for a long time was to join the Military... Anyway I went to the recruiter who was jet set on trying to sell me on Active Duty Army (I wanna go USAR Reserve).... So I am all gung hoe then it happens....

My family is opposed to Me going into the Military and aren't the biggest fans of President Bush (My sis and dad both voted Kerry and my mom didnt even vote lol). So last night my sister rented a documentary called Farenheit 9/11 which is now causing me to question this war. The movie seems heavily biased.

The reason I didn't feel anything wrong with going into the military was because I heard Bush is a Christian...

But the movie tells a story about money being a prime motivation....

I d/k

What do you guys think....

As much as I'd like to discuss this with you, I'm unable to express my views concerning this issue due to the special rules that apply to the Military Forum. I recommend asking the same question in another thread, as I strongly suspect that any discussion of Farenheit 911 would be in breach of the forum specific rules.... me thinks anyway.

All I can say is that Mr. Moore has a VERY different view of things than ANYONE I know in the military. Do not base your plans for the future on a movie. Gather all the information you can on your options, DO NOT let your recruiter bully you into doing something you don't want to, and PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!

The majority of the military are completely opposed to Moore's views. If you'd like, PM me and I'll give you some ideas on why exactly Mr. Moore deserves a lot less than the freedom to insult my country.

Forget about Michael Boore...I mean Moore. And only listen to about half of what your recruiter has to say. You would be well served to talk to as many active duty people you can. The longer they have served, the better. They have seen a whole lot, and can give you the good, bad, and the ugly...and most will.

My personal oppinion...you could do a whole lot worse than joining, even if it is only for one term of enlistment.

War is no good and the war in the middle east is like putting a band-aid on a gangrene leg. You can't fight an idea without stopping the teachers of that idea, who happen to be in Saudi schools teaching elementary school children who will grow up like Osama.

The military is a noble career, I myself spend 8 years in the Marines and Army Guard and am better off for it. Just keep in mind you may find yourself anywhere doing anything at anytime during your enlistment.

Look at a Godly perspective of the war here: http://www.maxlucado.com/pdf/upwords.god.and.war.pdf

Don't let atheistic propaganda change what God has for you. God called me into the military and he calls others. There are some He calls to pacifism and some He calls to defend.

I have these two conditions which have never been a big problem for me to hold down a job but would DQ me from MEPS.... Flashfoward to the Recruiter... I hint about these and he gives me some ideas.... (as one webpage put it let sleeping dogs lie).... I dont know what to do.... I worry about this quite a bit....

I have been through meps several times. I can describe the tests they do, if you think it will help you decide whether they will actually DQ you. They may or may not.
