  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What! No Earth Day threads?

I watched two hours of Greta Thunberg on PBS. Pretty interesting.
Obviously it needs to be combined with Arbor Day, though I forget if Earth Day is always on a Thursday...or whenever it was

No, I guess with all the carbon taxes and the like, most people feel they've given enough to those who profit from it. Corporatism makes money saving us from corporatism and we have the privilege of paying for it so they can prosper. Happy Earth Day.

I think it's always on the anniversary of it's founding date, April 22.

Founded back in 1970 when it was still about cleaning up the air and water pollution and going after industry to clean up it's act and people to stop actually filling the ditches with car garbage. It was successful in doing all to a degree but eventually industry just moved to Mexico. India and China to avoid the restrictions and people who had the initial costs tagged onto their consumption, never got a break when industry left the continent. Today they still pay plus now have a double dip in giving industry an excuse and the cash to make more money to clean up their own mess. About the only thing surviving from the original Earth Day era, is people still go out and clean the roadside ditches. Ralph Nader went from hero to enemy. It seems the common man is the only one that can be counted not to profit from Earth Days as they stay in the ditches where they serve the system best..

So there's literally about 7 different days depending on which calendar it is, since there's supposedly about 7 variants
