What music would you recommend?

As I mentioned in another post here, I don't know so much about Christian music. The only bands I somewhat know are Petra and Delirious. My friend also played some DC Talk to me once, but it wasn't quite my taste, so I don't even remember what it was.

So, my question is - what Christian artists/bands would you recommend, and why would you recommend that artist/band?

(As for the "why"-part, I'm kind of looking for some information about what their music generally sounds like - that way this thread can become useful for people who like different styles of music, and want to discover new bands).

Personally, I prefer melodic rock, but I like music from most styles, so feel free to recommend your favorite bands :)

I do have some melodic rock laying around, what kind of "rock" are you into?
I could recommend Terramaze and Disciple.. I'm not really into rock so I can't give you a clear reason whats so special about them...but they're good. ha

you should try listening to an online christian radio station - that will give you a feel for the kind of artsists/styles that are out there and might help you find some stuff you like

one good site is http://www.klove.com their streaming audio sounds pretty good - they have a simliar sound to the radio station i'm involved in starting up - but we're not broadcasting online yet
