at what stage are we in the second coming?

whenever Jesus shows up bodily in the world again.

how near is it?

No mortal knows. It could be tomorrow or in 5,000 years.

will we see it in this generation do you believe?
I sure hope not. I really do not get those who are excited for the wars and disasters of the Apocalypse, but I suppose that's possible if you buy that 'rapture' hooey.

has anyone seen him?

not that I know of.

Is he not everyone of us?

No.

I don't know where we are. I just know that Israel is not surrounded on both sides but there are new leaders coming to power there so I don't know could be any day now.

There have always been new leaders coming into power. We could be a long time away.

Folks, it doesn't matter when the end times come, just be ready by following Christ. And why is this in the Philosophy section?

Its actually excellent as general philosophy too, to live in a way that you do not fear to be "called to account" at any time.

The question of when the second coming will happen has been asked for the last 2000 years. Every generation has at some point felt that this event is just around the corner. The truth is we just don't know for as our saviour himself said "I shall come as a thief in the night"

is jesus not the best philosopher of all? that is what it is doing here.he was rebelious & said follow me. that would not be good for today infact the world is crazy with extreemism. he never condoned such acts so why is the world we live in so crazy two thousand years later no matter what religion.it must be near time he explained himself. he said it. it is not peace i have come to bring. I find this strange, what do you think he ment by that & are we not finished fighting yet.

Why do some Christians get so worked up about this?

Is it not better to simply live a good life, and let history attend to itself?

To answer the question "what more needs to be done?" Jesus gave the answer while paying the price for my sins and your sins on Calvary's Cross. He said: "It is finished!"

That phrase is tetelestai in Greek, and means: the debt is paid. There is nothing more that God or man can do to make believers acceptable in His presence than what Jesus accomplished on the cross. All anyone needs to do is repent of their rebellion against God and receive Christ Jesus as Saviour and LORD. (and then hopefully, walk in obedience to the Word and the promptings of the Holy Spirit).

If he did what he did last time, it'd probably be some dude born, raised, and living somewhere besides the US or Europe.

"Josh" is actually a closer modern translation than "Jesus" is, Jesus the the English version of Yeshua, a pet form of Yehosua, the name we translate as "Joshua".

He'd probably go about, telling people to get along, and be "anti-American" for denouncing the negative, unloving aspects of our govnerment. The CIA would probably have him arrested for "being a terrorist."

if it is finished why do we exist today unless we have to suffer the end of the world! if it takes much longer the world will be crowded with people.

What He was referring to as being "finished" was the total payment for my sins and yours, and those of all mankind. He paid the price that none of us could ever pay. And... He "...is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentence (2 Peter 3:9)." And that includes you.
