  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In my study of the Fall feasts, I run across websites that state some interesting statements. This is one. Now I am curious, what month is Ethanim for I can not find it in any of the other materials, I have gathered so far?

Watch out for False Feasts - Made up feasts

Exod.32:5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

1Kgs.12[32] And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

[33] So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.

1Kgs.6[38] And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it

A Made up feast not in the Bible

Judaism : Rosh Hashanah ( head of the Year - Rosh Hashanah.) Rosh Hashanah occurs on the first and second days of Tishri. There are no scriptures to back this up.

----------------------------------
The Blowing of Trumpets, not rosh hashanah.

Bible says: Lev.23:[24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

[27] Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

[34] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.

[39] Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

[41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

Num.29 [1] And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.

It is not Tishri, it is Ethanim
1Kgs.8 [2] And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

So you see by the scriptures:

1: Ethanim not Tishri

2: seventh month not First month

3: Blowing of Trumpets not Rosh Hashanah

... that simple!

Passover - Aviv - The Real Rosh Hashanah

Lev.23 [5] In the fourteenth day of the "first month" at even is the LORD's passover.

Deut.16[1] Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

Please Read the Hebrew if you have it.

Exod.12:[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

So that is where I wanted to learn more about Ethanim. Can anyone tell me?

Well, Rosh HaShanna isn't found in the Torah :) If there is a Beginning of the Year it should be the 1st of Nisan, the month of the Abib, as that was the month God commanded as the first of months.

The day that Rosh HaShanna is celebrated is Biblically called Yom Teruah, the Day of Shouting.

Peace!

Feast of Trumpets is the First day of the seventh month and start of the civil year.(Leviticus 23.23-25)

Hebrew name is Rosh HaShanah which literally means head of the year on the Jewish Calendar it falls around September or October depending on the year. It is Tishri 1 of the Jewish month and first day of the year on the Jewish civil calendar. The Jews have two calendars, one which they call the sacred calendar and the other that they call the civil. They believe that since Yahweh never abrogated the old calendar when He gave them the new calendar they are to have two calendars. This is why Joel says that Messiah will come in the first month, both for the first coming and for the second, both in the spring and in the fall.
