What Makes You Write

How about a little discussion: what makes you write and what fuels you to write?

Do you wait for inspiration to hit you and then you write, or do you write anyways?

Personally, I write because of my depression, to help deal with it but since then, it's evolved into wanting to be published and having stories to tell and characters to share with the world. Music tends to fuel my writing and always inspires me, as well as my experiences (especially with one of my newest stories that's a side-project when I get stuck with my main one).

for me, writin' is like my soul attemptin' to find a voice or some form of expression...so i just plod along until what is written is near what it is my soul wants to get out....

Sometimes I'll just get an idea in my head and I'm like "Ooh, that'd make a good story" and then I write away
Now whether or not I finish the story is another... story. Hahahaha.

I normally write in order to express the pain I feel inside, my poems are normally sad ones that express what's hurting me or happy ones that express all that I wish I had, what I think ought to be, sort of my own way of crafting my own little world where I can hide.

Sort of like my Blue Stahli said
"Reality's the plague we're the medication"

When I can't manage my reality anymore I tend to try to express all that I think is wrong with my world in poems or I express what I wish my world was and I listen to songs that weave a covering of sound and emotions that I can hide inside, one so thick and powerful it blocks out the real world for a while. Music and Poetry are like a drug for me that helps me cope with my life that I'm not very happy with sometimes. I can't always manage my real life, the people in it, the systems at work upon me so I use poetry and music and massive amounts of emotion to flood my brain with something that feels better, it gives me a safe place for a while. A lot like a person who goes to alcohol or drugs but it's doesn't hurt me.
