  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well a good anime consists of these elements:

  • Well thought out plot
  • Moderately good character development
  • Creativity=the refrain from cliches (creativity really is the root for a good anime)
  • suspense
There are other elements that make a good story, but what separates a good story from a great story is the creativity of the creators.

^ Oh yes! Nicely said DigiDigi-san.
I think I have to add:
- Plot holes must be averted (Yep! Plot holes keep on destroying a perceived good show).
- In conjunction... Has to have explanation or though as to how each things happening one after the other.
- Has to set moral lessons above all.
- Must have a balance between any combination of action, romance, comedy, suspense, drama and anything in the plot's premise.
- Must have a reasonable amount of character fitting for the plot for the character development.
- If possible, add Large Hams.

side note: Now what is a Large Ham? Here!

I came up with this idea now and decided to throw it out there. What do YOU think makes anime good or popular? Is it the action, the story development, or character interaction? Obviously, it's all three, but I don't want to be one sided. So I decided to find out what you guys think about quality anime.

Depends what your talking about makes popular in Japan I haven't got a clue as far as what makes them popular else where like here in the U.S. it's simple these sorts of shows are foreign in design. Now obvisouly you need to have certain basics such as a good story and characters but that wouldn't explain why people are paying things like $40 for 12 episode series on dvd and staying up half the night just to see them on cable unless these shows had a certain flare that differed enough from western tv programs to make it worth the cost and trouble.

Oh good gracious! Not this! In as much as it is entertaining, the plot keeps on repeating even if there are more stuffs to cover.

I'll give you an example, Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This is quite a tragic yet nicely done anime. Simply because you may think that it is just your generic Magical Girl series, it turns out to be something isn't. Cue in the character development as the plot goes thick in just 12 episodes. The character that are going to and through and the consistency is just plain awesome as well as the music of awesome *facepalms, can't let my troper side take over me while making this post*.
