  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So lets say, you have just meet a woman (or in case of you ladies a man), you are interested in. You both agree to a date so...

What would you have in mine for your idea date?

To be honest I have some ideas what mine would be, but I have to do some adusting in my mind how I could do it. For it involves many things starting with these two, going to Church on Sunday, and visiting Amish Country (which to the best of my knowledge is close on Sundays).

I have JUST met this man? I'd want to go someplace where it was public enough to feel safe but quiet enough to talk...and just get to know who they are. Probably a restaurant would be a good place...something not to trendy because that means noise...something moderately priced so that I don't feel obligated/guilty by the cost of the meal.

Second choice might be a street fair or festival.

I would not want a movie...because you don't get to know each other and sitting that close is too intimate for a first date of someone you just met. Normally, I'd say no dancing...but if I found someone up here who actually knew how to two-step, I'd go even if it weren't a date...LOL. (But honestly, you can do a lot of talking while two-stepping, so maybe that is what makes it different too).

I wouldn't do the church thing because I have kids and I will not mix the two unless I reach the point where it feels like we have a future...or completely go into the friend zone.

Honestly, at this point in my life, "romantic" seems so hokey and unreal. I want to get to know someone in "real life"...so although it wouldn't be the stuff of first dates, I like to meet a man with take-out for his lunch break because then I get a peek at that huge piece of his life. I used to bring my husband lunch and we would eat on the tailgate of his UPS truck. The one guy I dated since was an electrician and I tagged along with him on a side job to be his "assistant" and hand him tools and such. Both men loved what they did and it showed.

Just met? I haven't gone out with someone I just met in lots of years. My "dates" are with people I already know, co-workers, neighbors, women from the gym. I already have something in common with these people. But if I just met her? I'd probably ask her what her interests were, what she does for entertainment, then do that. I'm open to new experiences, and if I hate her idea, then I know not to date her again.

1st Date (just met): My ideal date would be taking a walk through a public park to just talk and look at stuff.

2nd Date: Movies or Museum

3rd Date: Mexican Food

4th date: Sex! Just kidding!! ^_^

LOL, Yea, I know you where just kidding on No. 4; according to my favorite tv program--The Big Bang Theory sex is the third date (no I'm not serious); but got a big laugh out that episode. Mexician Food not bad, but I be more into Pizza, or Chinese Food. Just my personal choice.

Also I think I would like to fish or bowl.

Bowling is actually a great date! Fishing..hmm..I guess that could be relaxing.

Yea, I never care for fishing til shortly after I accepted Christ as my Saviour. Found a nice river, on a beautiful day and got some alone time with God, it was great.

My husband loved to fish. I think my husband used that time to commune with God. I used to enjoy just sitting on the bank sucking up the sun and being with my husband. He tried to teach me how to love the thrill of the catch..but I preferred getting my thrills watching him get excited so excited when he landed a fish...even if it was really only bait size. (I'd probably get turned on by the smell of worms and fish slime right around now...since he smelled like them so much.)

Okay...that was off-topic...

A date with someone that I was already comfortable with....hmmm...not sure. I'd be game to try something entirely new if I was with someone I trusted...

Another fun date for me would be to go to an amusement park like Magic Mountain. I love roller coasters and rides! Unfortunately, where I live there aren't any good amusement parks. On my 40th birthday we went to a place here called Castle's and Coaster's. It has about 5 rides but it was the only place that had a roller coaster so....My son was only 5 then so he went with me and that made it fun.
I also like the state fair!

I'm fond of hanging out by the ocean

Twice in my life I hung out at the beach, right at the edge of the shoreline, during a blizzard. I want to do it again but most people won't do it with me. The earth is so beautiful from that perspective but no one will believe me! The sky is steel gray and the waves are ominous like a sea monster is going to come out. Plus it is completely silent and you are the only one there.

I personally love storms on the water. One of the best "dates" I ever had was sitting in rocking chairs on a porch right next to Lake Michigan during a huge thunderstorm. The water did what my BF called tilting (or something like that) and you could literally see the waterline move.

I've like being next to the ocean right before or right after a hurricane...

where I live we don't have the ocean, but we have some pretty tremendous lightning shows during the summer monsoon season. I love watching them! I have tried to get photographs but my camera never takes the picture when I want it to so I usually get the shot before or after, but not of the actual lightning which sometimes lights up the whole sky!

Makes me think of how it will be when Jesus comes back!

Every friend, that you now have, was once,at one time,a ....stranger.What is wrong with trying to get to know a stranger who may someday become your friend? Does this fear of strangers come from the result of our paraniod culture? Even the bible says that we are to be kind to strangers. Do you remember the story of the Good Samatian? :)

Dinner and a play or maybe a murder mystery dinner.
A play sounds great!

Especially a play in which I am performing in.That way,she can see what I am passionate about. Also, most women love my performances. When she sees all of the other women making a fuss over me, which usually happens after one of my perfomances, that would be to my advantage. As I said before, a woman seem to notice and to like me only when other women notice me.

But a play you are acting in means she is sitting alone for the whole performance.
