I am extremely biased towards the Divine perspective of scripture and I will advocate that people read the bible as the Word of God and not the word of men.
lol ... one of my favs
How bout this: read em all.. enjoy the meat and spit out the bones!
Note here what Jesus tells the High Priest concerning His coming.*snip*
For more accuracy, I would prefer the NKJV [or YoungLT].
Sorry if I wasn't clear
Edit to add:tho I wish the NKJV would have used the ye's, thou's, thine, etc...since it would show the singular and plural of words better me thinks.
I understand. However, I recommend them because I believe the notes are good and serve to instruct a new believer in Godlieness.
Although, now I do recall your earlier mention of "babes" and in that case, lol ... one of my favs

I say this because God is so amazing in that He can even take 'bad' commentary
just as He can take secular ideas, and use them as a means to HIS ends.
Sorry I wasn't 'focused' when I was reading your post.I was referring to the original KJV sis.
It does not render hebrew/greek words consistantly as does other versions.

I thought about that too , after I posted it.Good idea for anyone who is able to apply critical thinking. But, before you can think critically about various interpretations of Scripture, one needs a basic familiarity with the text itself.
I agree.
Paul's not referring to the First Testament in Cor. 2, but rabbinic traditions and otherwise manmade religions observances. "taste not, touch not, handle not" is not a good synopsis of the First Testament.I like how in Colossians 2 Paul calls all the "taste not, touch not, handle not" commandments of the OT "commandments of men"
perhaps this whole new covenant is about something else altogether?
How about Revelation. Sounds pretty "jewish" to mePaul's not referring to the First Testament in Cor. 2, but rabbinic traditions and otherwise manmade religions observances. "taste not, touch not, handle not" is not a good synopsis of the First Testament.

Im ashamed to say this but i especially like the 1545 Luther Bibel. I have dishonored my ancestors!
Hmmm, methinks someone needs a penance to do...Im ashamed to say this but i especially like the 1545 Luther Bibel. I have dishonored my ancestors!
Yes, that would be nice. If you read up on the translation history of the deuterocanonicals in English, I'm sad to say its a pitiful picture. Often times rushed, done poorly, there isn't much that's really well-done and fairly literal in English. The RSV comes close but even that did not get treated with the same degree of respect as were the other books everyone agrees on.<snip>I wish the New American Standard Bible had the full Orthodox canon of the OT though.
That's the version I read when I was first saved. I just read and read and couldn't stop reading.
