Hello folks. What is your favorite Psalm? Mine is Psalm 111:2, which talks about analyzing God's creation, and his works. Psalms are beautiful, and sound pretty in the KJV, even though I prefer more modern translations such as NKJV, NIV, NRSV-CE and ESV for other books of the Bible.

Psalm 111:2 (ESV & NRSV-CE): Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
Psalm 111:2 (NKJV): The works of the Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them.

Psalm 111:2 expresses wonder at God's great works or deeds, which are studied by all who delight in them. Scientists engage with these works through their research and discovery. Faith and science complement each other, as both acknowledge God's presence and power in the natural world. Scientific inquiry is driven by a belief in a deeper meaning to the universe and a recognition of God's involvement. The verse affirms that studying God's works deepens our appreciation for and connection to the LORD.

Georges Lemâitre, a Belgian Catholic priest and scientist, is considered the father of the Big Bang theory, along with Hubble and Alexander Friedmann*. In the 1920s, along with Edwin Hubble and Friedmann, he proposed that the universe began as a singularity – an infinitesimally small and dense point of pure energy – that expanded and gave birth to the universe as we know it. Lemaitre's theory was influenced by his religious beliefs and his understanding of Einstein's theory of general relativity.

*Friedmann was baptized into the Russian Orthodox Church as an infant, and lived much of his life in Saint Petersburg.

There are rare instances where bread at Catholic churches turn into physical flesh and blood, known as a Eucharistic miracle. But for most times, the bread does not turn into physical flesh or blood from our perspective, but instead transforms into flesh and blood invisibly, known as transubstantiation. I did not believe in transubstantiation, until learning about Eucharistic miracles in late 2021 or early 2022. Eucharistic miracles have been studied by scientists, and in all of the confirmed miracles, the blood was type AB. In other Eucharistic miracles, the Catholic church has dismissed some, as red fungus sometimes grows on old bread. So, rigorous scientific testing is used to confirm these miracles.

I'm learning to love Psalms, I kinda' overlooked them in the past, but I can't say why that was.

I have a few of them ear marked as favorites, but I've just begun the 2nd book so it's too early to really say.
I learn through a Calvery Chapel pastor, and they can move slowly... but I like that style.

Perhaps I'll report back some time later.

Psalm 46!

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress...

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

@Ted-01 , how is your journey into the Psalms going? Is the Calvary Chapel pastor teaching the Psalms well? Have you sang any of them?
Hey Alex!
I halted my reading in Psalms, for a while, at around 70... I just wanted to kinda' soak things in. (I have a strange learning style that I won't try to explain, haha). I fully intend on continuing reading/learning them at a later date.

Yes, as to the Calvary Chapel pastor teaching them. Many of the CC congregations have websites varying degrees of complexity... some offer all their teachings to the public. That's what I use for a lot of my learning... I have my particular favorites.

I can't say that I've ever sung the Psalms before... my singing kinda' sounds "like a mastodon stuck in a tarpit", as quote from the Flintstone cartoon said. But I've listened to a guy named Nathan Clark George sing a few... I really liked them/him.

I was always brought up to "go to church", and sang in the church choir as a boy, long before I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour. (It wasn't the sort of church where anybody told me I needed to believe on the Lord Jesus - It was merely assumed i was a Christian). However, one thing I'm glad about is that we sang a psalm every matins and evensong, and so I know the psalms better than I would have done otherwise. I like many of them, particularly Psalm 51, and David's confession of his sin, and Psalm 119, with its teaching on the Word of God.

Incidentally, your post seems to suddenly jump from discussing favourite psalms to the Big Bang Theory, and transubstantiation. I don't think either is mentioned in Psalms.

Cool. That's all I needed to know. All the rest of your post is extraneous. Psalm 51 and Psalm 119 are good.

Hello folks. What is your favorite Psalm? Mine is Psalm 111:2, which talks about analyzing God's creation, and his works.
Mine is similar, and sung at every vespers service.

Psalm 104 God the Creator and Provider
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul.
O Lord my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
2 wrapped in light as with a garment.
You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
3 you set the beams of your chambers on the waters,
you make the clouds your chariot,
you ride on the wings of the wind,
4 you make the winds your messengers,
fire and flame your[d] ministers.

5 You set the earth on its foundations,
so that it shall never be shaken.
6 You cover it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.
7 At your rebuke they flee;
at the sound of your thunder they take to flight.
8 They rose up to the mountains, ran down to the valleys
to the place that you appointed for them.
9 You set a boundary that they may not pass,
so that they might not again cover the earth.

10 You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills,
11 giving drink to every wild animal;
the wild asses quench their thirst.
12 By the streams the birds of the air have their habitation;
they sing among the branches.
13 From your lofty abode you water the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

14 You cause the grass to grow for the cattle,
and plants for people to use,
to bring forth food from the earth,
15 and wine to gladden the human heart,
oil to make the face shine,
and bread to strengthen the human heart.
16 The trees of the Lord are watered abundantly,
the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
17 In them the birds build their nests;
the stork has its home in the fir trees.
18 The high mountains are for the wild goats;
the rocks are a refuge for the coneys.
19 You have made the moon to mark the seasons;
the sun knows its time for setting.
20 You make darkness, and it is night,
when all the animals of the forest come creeping out.
21 The young lions roar for their prey,
seeking their food from God.
22 When the sun rises, they withdraw
and lie down in their dens.
23 People go out to their work
and to their labor until the evening.

24 O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide,
creeping things innumerable are there,
living things both small and great.
26 There go the ships,
and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.

27 These all look to you
to give them their food in due season;
28 when you give to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
29 When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.
30 When you send forth your spirit,[g] they are created;
and you renew the face of the ground.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works—
32 who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke.
33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
for I rejoice in the Lord.
35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth,
and let the wicked be no more.
Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Praise the Lord!

Aww, that is a nice Psalm. Just found a song that is based on Psalm 104 for you.
