So the other day I was in a church service. One of the things the pastor was talking about was that he cant go to the mall by himself, he rather bring his wife with him then go alone. The point he was trying to make was that this world is going to keep getting worse and we must put out trust in G-d so that we may not be caught in all the mess. Well what he said in reference to that (which scared him I guess?) was the "black lip stick, and just the kids there and the same sex holding hands etc." Ok I understand very clearly about same sex marriage, for its against G-d. However, what is so bad about black lip stick? What makes red lip stick less or no sin-convicting to a "Christian," I would say?

I would imagine he is stereotyping people who wear black lipstick. I don't think he is saying "black lipstick=sin", but that you know the crowd with black lipstick is the crowd you don't want to be around.

Yes but whats so bad about and I am going to say what he is talking about, goths? Emos, metalheads, scene... Whats so bad about these groups of people? What makes a aero football player any better? I dont understand, it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe because I am among the group.

From the outside, the goth and metalhead group tend to seem "dark" to people, and this apparent "darkness" is then grouped subconsciously with other things the person thinks is "dark" such as drugs, alcohol, sex, et cetera. This leads the person to subconsciously(or consciously) attribute these things to all people in the goth and metalhead groups, even if they don't actually belong. Mostly, it is the human brain trying to organize and categorize peoples, ideas, and things, and stereotyping takes place. It isn't always intentional, but the results tend to be the same.

Ahaha. I get it because we all know when we say dark that makes the color black evil. I get where these people are coming from but it is not welcoming to "the groups," when judgement is already been placed.

I understand what you are both saying. I get judged ALOT simply based on the way i dress, let alone my make up (which i have recently dulled down a bit.)
I once had an old woman look at me on the opposite side of the road and when i looked back at her she started walking faster as if she was scared, i will admit it was kind of funny haha but all i did was smile back.

I think people think of what media and "past history" has made them out to be. But people should know better not to Judge by appearances and all the old woman at the church u went to prejudged me, but when they got to know me they said i was the "sweetest little girl" they had met.

so now i just think "treat people as you want to be treated" and carry on with my busynes :p

and as for the black lipstick, it can be creepy if not worn properly :p as the other week i found out both red and black lipstick make me look like i am about to drop dead :p but i can see the point on black lipstick being sin :)

God bless u bowfs :D

He's just stereotyping and making broad, uneducated, generalizations. When I tell people I listen to metal and hardcore, they automatically assume I'm some devil-worshiper or something hahaha. But at the same time, I'll just as often listen to classical music or ambient. So really, stereotypes just flat out are flawed all around.

There is nothing inherently wrong with any sub-culture of people, unless they divert from the good path and start becoming morally deviant in an area (sexual deviance/defiance, drugs, alcohol, violence, etc.).

However, he was probably just trying to make a point innocently and wasn't inferring that someone was evil just because of black lipstick.

...by the way, I'll get back to your PM soon. I've been working on getting set up for the next semester so I've been too busy to log onto the forums lol.

Yeah lol. Well hey honor yee parents XD. I think old people are wise to talk to concerning life. You can found out interesting things that happened in like the 60's. Although I must say 60's and 70's where a werid um "clothing" period.

For some reason I dont have that problem. Are you talking to WWII veterans or something?

I am not sure what you are referring to? Are you talking about clothing?

I am curious in the use of the letter you use a lot. Do you mean "x" as in a holy kiss with brother and sisters in Christ or the originally mean of X= Christ? Then again what I just said is basically the same principle so ya pointless questions....
