I'm sorry... but I dunno where the catholic church gets this nonsense.... how can anyone thing that the Roman Catholic Church is the ONLY church of God... that it's the Church taht Jesus would refer to as being THE Church... since the last time that I read... the Church = body of believers... at least that's what Paul pushes... and well.... EVERY APOSTLE.... hmm... apostle's creed anyone? Yeesh....

My response for you Randy - take the poll with a BIG grain of salt. Some things just aren't worth taking seriously and that poll is one of them.

The Roman church has essentially always (at least since Constantine) believed they are the church Jesus spoke of. While we recognize the difference between "catholic" and "Catholic" many in the Roman church do not.

Roman Catholics do trace their church officers (bishops) back to the very early days of the Church (as do the Eastern Churches). They also assume that the use of the word catholic by the fathers means Roman Catholic. I disagree with them on that.

I do agree that there is only "one holy catholic and apostolic Church" but I don't think that is made up of the RCC alone.

I'm not debating, but I just thought I'd clarify that when the Church teaches that the fullness of Christ's Church subsists solely in the Catholic Church, we would not see that as contradicting that the whole Body of believers is the Church. The Church also teaches that there is a unity that exists between all the baptised in the one Mystical Body of Christ.

I believe in the holy catholic church... but I also believe that the RCC isn't necessarily the entire church...

I'm not debating -- because if something happened to the UMC, I'd probably worship at a Roman Catholic Church.

My mother was saved out of it. And actually, to show you how far gone some "evangelicals" are, a local "Christian" radio station took an advertisement off of the air because it basically told of a former RC priest who was saved OUT of RC. It didn't state it directly, but the "evangelical" station didn't want to risk offending the RCs.

This same belief that keeps coming up in the anglican section. there are a handful of anglocatholics who won't leave the issue alone, so it seems to come up in nearly every thread I find. They also had a thread a while back on when the anglican church boat sinks will you go to rome or constantinople - as these were seen as the only choices....
