  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What is this artefact?

I was in the forest again today looking for meteorites when I found some old ruins, I didn`t have with me my shovel so I couldn`t dig for more, but I found this little statue, I have dusted it off and placed in my home, is it old you think or have someone placed it there or something?

I have a ball and chain I found in the woods in SE Indiana about 1970. There was an underground railroad which went through our area

I am sorry. It is hiding from me right now. I have over 50 yrs of "artifacts" saved up all over the place. Among it I have a 1968 Tigers Booklet handed out to people at the stadium. They played the NY Yankees when I was taken there by my uncle when visiting. I have a World's Fair bronze medalion from when it was in NY, around 1965? I have many books from the 1800s, about 50 old 78 rpm record albums, old Kodak cameras, all kinds of stuff.

But it is just stuff. Nothing of any spiritual value which will stay here when I go to be with the Lord. It REALLY can become such a pain. No, I don't want to give it away. I have way too much invested in holding on to it for half a century through over 10 moves, having to buy bigger houses to hold it, and so on. I suppose it will end up in my son's hands.

You know, that sorta looks like the material (rock) that an inscence burner I got once while in Korea (1974) was made from. The carving of the burner was much more elaborate and detailed and such. Some one broke in to a storage locker at our first appt bldg and stole it and several other valuable things.

Thank you for sharing your find. It is really awesome to find things like that out in the woods. You never know what you will find. a metal detector might help but they demand a smooth surface for accuracy and depth as changing elevation can give all kinds of false readings. Maybe they have changed them but I have an old Whites TR Discriminator model with several adjustments on it for fine tuning it for more depth, to discriminate out certain unwanted objects, and for mineraliztion of soil, and internal interference, I believe. Once it is tuned and set you must not raise or lower it hardly at all as you will tune out its correographics of adjustments and get a false alarm. It is the depth setting probably that is really sensitive to such. If one does not tune it in to its very sharp detection settings for the area and just leave on a generalized set then you do not get false alarms but hardly any depth or discrimination.

Interesting to see others collect also

I collect a LOT more than necessary............ But my family survived on one income earner and one of many ways I "earned" was by learning all of the trades relative to owning a home and vehicles constantly screaming at me for repairs and maintenance and doing it myself. consequentially, I had a lot of opportunities to salvage whatever items I could from each hole unit replaced for future repairs saving/earning more money.

As far as collectables go I do have some as I mentioned and more. I have a coin collection I haven't pulled out for decades and other things. They are just things. What I have learned in life and it is New Life Clinic's motto, or at least used to be several decades ago, "Life is all about RELATIONSHIPS, not things." Things and animals are very easy as they do not challenge us with relationship "issues." We may superimpose relational aspects to animals or even things, but all the talking and reflecting back at us is ONLY what we want to hear or tell ourselves; very safe, howbeit stunting and possibly even destructive towards healthy human relationships and our growth. But having a controlled hobby of gathering/selling collectables can be a healthy and rewarding thing.

It's a statue of +1 luck, providing +1 to all of your luck roles. Must be worn around the neck to be effective.
