  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A few months ago I saw the first episode of this anime on Cartoon Network. It is about a boy whose home and family were destroyed by aliens. The boy is brought up by an engineer, and excels in making large robot suits. The first episode focuses on the alien species attacking the boy's new home, and it climaxes with the boy going into the robot suit (as far as I can remember...).

It's a mecha anime, but I don't think it's Gundam (perhaps it could be one of the newer series, I'm not sure). I'd be very grateful if you could find the name of this certain anime, I'd like to watch the rest of the series.

That's kind of too general. Describe the art some.

The only two anime I know that Cartoon Network has aired that might roughly meet that criteria are Eureka 7 and (albeit not completely) Evangelion. E7 went through the standard run, they showed all of the episodes; Eva, they only ever showed the first episode, in a promotion as part of Giant Robot Week (and the airing of Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone earlier this year during March). Not that any of this could have any bearing on Cartoon Network's scheduling in other areas of the world.

Well I'm not sure it doesn't really match any anime there running here in the U.S. currently on cartoon network internationally who knows the description you gave matches the start of Gundam Age though. Below is a link to the Gundam wiki page about the shows protagonist hope it helps.
