A man putting on makeup and costume to look like a woman--and a very bad representation of one at that? Not even close to being the same.
It is fairly fringe. They are not seeking a "position of trust" - these events are well-chaperoned. In the school events, there are plenty of librarians, teachers and aides in attendance. The brunches are paid, ticketed events - children are there only with a guardian. Yes, of course they are entertainers, but Broadway shows are extremely rare and expensive with Off-Off-Off-Broadway less so. Some traveling circuses do have clowns in drag, but that is not for most people as it is grueling.
You’re literally using the internet when you ask that question. How in the worl can I be expected (as a normal citizen) to know drag queen statistics or anything like that?
That’s exactly what happened.Hey, Drag Queen friend of mine, want to do a drag show at the elementary school?!
I don't know who organizes school and library events. Even planners? If they do not seek the position of trust, who seeks them to do drag shows ar schools and stuff?
Hey, Drag Queen friend of mine, want to do a drag show at the elementary school?!
Are you kidding? And by what do you mean that the shows are well chaperoned? By who? By the Librarians, Teachers and Aides? If the drag queens wasn't seeking an audience with children to do shows at the school, then why do they need to be chaperoned in the first place?
Is the Teachers, Librarians and Aids, primary function at these events to act as security for the children? Or ar they a bunch of underpaid people who had a show thrust on them? (This is what we do Fridy, some drag queens are coming in to put on a show for the kids, your on security for that event...??)
How would I know - I'm not involved in these activities. I believe form the schools' and libraries' perspective this ides is to get children interested in books and reading. The brunches are to draw in customers. Can you be a little bit more clear about why this is even taking place and who is organizing these shows?
Huh, maybe. By run them out of town, do you mean chase them out with violence? That's not a good thing for freedom of speech.I think they used to run weird shows out of town.
Are "they" the same "them"?Nowadays we are opening our schools to them.
The same can be said for teachers or anyone that interact with kids. What's their motive. Is it to teach them? Or are they sexually attracted to kids? If you don't want your kids to have to have reading time a time with a drag queen. Don't let them go.We have had cross dressers and drag queens almost for as long as we have been a country. They have been in movies, in vaudeville, shows (Remember Rue Paul?) televisions shows etc. But in the last 18 months they have been attracted to children (I am NOT speaking sexually) (repeat, I AM NOT SPEAKING SEXUALLLY) (REPEAT, I AM NOT SPEAKING SEXUALLY).
My curiosity asks why? I'm not asking if it is right or wrong - I am asking what is their motivation to read books to children?
It's just so antithetical to their purposes and audiences of the past. Their mission has always been entertaining and titillating mostly a male dominated adult audience.
What is their purpose?
Back in the good old days, that was the job of English teachers and librarians. Why is it now the job of gay bar performers? How would I know - I'm not involved in these activities. Gay bar performers? They have families too.Back in the good old days, that was the job of English teachers and librarians. Why is it now the job of gay bar performers?
How does not having a gay bar performer in a school classroom with children make reading a book less entertaining?Gay bar performers? They have families too.
Why make reading less entertaining? It's not something I enjoy, but if others derive benefit from attending, why not.
It seems like it would have been a passing fad, but now it is a thing.
I pose the argument that it may actually have a sexual component to it. Even though drag queens don't claim a letter in the LGBT alphabet soup, their own organizations openly admit that they are connected. We have had cross dressers and drag queens almost for as long as we have been a country. I don't know why you insist on "gay bar performer" as if every drag queen must be gay and perform in bars. Is there some union that stipulates that? Not in Texas, I would guess. How does not having a gay bar performer in a school classroom with children make reading a book less entertaining?
I don't insist on it. A writer for Teen Vogue is the one who affirmed it to be the case:I don't know why you insist on "gay bar performer" as if every drag queen must be gay and perform in bars. Is there some union that stipulates that? Not in Texas, I would guess.
Drag queens are flamboyant and funny. Many are professional entertainers, but for all I know, there may be amateurs as well or those who entertain family and friends. The idea is to entertain. School libraries tend to be fairly quiet and dull places, ime; and now even more so with all the book bannings.
Sure, back when being gay was illegal and drag was dangerous, it was performed surreptitiously by necessity. Not so nowadays.I don't insist on it. A writer for Teen Vogue is the one who affirmed it to be the case:
"Once at home only in dimly-lit gay bars after sundown, drag performers have recently stepped into the spotlight as mainstream media stars, thanks largely to Emmy Award-winning television series RuPaul’s Drag Race, which debuted in 2009. More recently still, they’ve moved into the fluorescent lights of educational spaces, like schools, libraries, and bookstores, through the work of organizations like Drag Queen Story Hour"
Targeting Drag Queens in Classrooms Is a "War on Imagination"

That's an article written in their favor. At least it's an honest look at where those people originated from.

Does “all of those people” include the 90%+ of heterosexuals who had sex outside of marriage, or is that “sexual immorality” different because reasons? All of them get tossed into the same catagory of sexual immorality. Gay trans, pedo's, biwhatever, all of them. Even drag queens. Because it's all the same spirit of Lust, spawned by a demon which twists sexuality in their mind to think that, gays are ok but pedo's are bad. Or anything of the sort. I wish gay suppoeters would stop trying to have sub classifications of sexual immorality where we are supposed to perceive a certain bunch as no threat or entirely harmelss....Balderdash! Get all those people out of here! The good ones too, lol.

Oh, those poor, poor kids.None of this would be an issue from republicans if the Drag Queen hour read Atlas Shrugged, The Art of the Deal or The Conscience of a Conservative.
Gee I thought they were reading "The Hungry Caterpillar", etc. to kids.It isn't about the Drag Queens, it is about the content they read. The drag queen issue is tied with the book bans across the country as a means to shield children from a perceived immoral indoctrination.
They still do in this case. Parents are under no obligation to take their kids to the library for book readings. Don't think my parents ever took me to a story hour. (I read my own books.)Back in the good days, it was the parents who had the control to allow them to expose their children to the content and information THEY thought was best for their children. Back in the good days, parents had the freedom to raise their kids as they see fit. Today, it appears that certain republicans no longer believe in a parent's choices in parenting if is not up to their standards.
