2 Cor 7:10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regretted: but the sorrow of the world works death.

1) What is godly sorrow?

2) What does it mean by "regretted?"

3) Why is godly sorrow not regretted?

4) What is the sorrow of the world?

5) If the sorrow of the world regretted, why or why not?

6) What are they not?

7) What is the difference between godly sorrow and the sorrow of the world?

8) How can you tell which you have?

Please do not say, "Judas." Be vivid in your expressions and definitions. If you have any reference to commentaries of reputation, or early church fathers, please cite sources. Thank you.

This is a letter to the Corinthians after their reaction to Paul's first letter to them.
Let's look at the surrounding verses (I use the New American Bible)

9I rejoice now, not because you were saddened, but because you were saddened into repentance; for you were saddened in a godly way, so that you did not suffer loss in anything because of us.
10For godly sorrow produces a salutary repentance without regret, but worldly sorrow produces death.
11For behold what earnestness this godly sorrow has produced for you, as well as readiness for a defense, and indignation, and fear, and yearning, and zeal, and punishment. In every way you have shown yourselves to be innocent in the matter.

Paul is saying that their sorrow in the wrongs which Paul wrote against in the first letter has brought them to conversion and action towards and with God. So, Godly sorrow is something which turns us towards conversion. Ungodly, or worldly, sorrow would simply build upon itself and dwell in guilt, disappointment, and/or despair.
