  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First John 3 is the familiar promise . Verse 1, "See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us." How great is God's love for us? This great, "That we should be called children of God," and such we are. "For this reason the world doesn't know us because it didn't know Him." The world can't recognize the children of God, didn't even recognize Him, how can it recognize us? I love this, verse 2, "Now we are children of God." It is true, we are now children of God. "But it has not yet appeared as yet what we shall be." This isn't the final image. "We know that when He appears we shall be...what?...like Him." Wow! God had a plan and the plan was that there would gather around Christ a redeemed humanity made in His image who would view Him as preeminent and thus forever and ever and ever they would praise and honor and glorify His name...and that's why we were saved.

We were saved so God could bring us all the way through Glory.. Wow how awesome is the Love that the Father bestows upon His children..That is why I for one know that I do not have to fear the loss of salvation.. For it is Christ who keeps us for His purpose... I love digging into the scriptures and the Lord bringing life to me through His word... Yippeeee

What really is the purpose of salvation?
That is certainly no small question.

But to sum it all up in one sentence:

I believe God's purpose for our salvation is because His desire is to have a family/children, whom He could love with all Who He truly is, and who would freely desire with great joy in their heart, to love and worship Him for Who He truly is...for all eternity.

God bless you!

Dear MamaZ. You had quite a few good replies, and also quite a few reasons why, and for what purpose. I believe the main reason is that God loves, He made us in His image, and He wants us around Him for eternity. We were lost, Jesus found us and died, that we might live. Now we have to become as God always wanted us to be, loving and loyal children to a Perfect Heavenly Father. Jesus told us to love God above everything else, and love each other, as we love ourselves, and become perfect, as God is perfect. We are given years to learn, we have Jesus to help and guide us, and although we might never reach perfection in this imperfect world, we will be well on the way though, when we are ready to leave this world. After we leave our imperfect human bodies, we will be clothed in our perfect bodies, and we will live with our perfect Father in Heaven, and our perfect brothers and sisters. I say this humbly and with love, MamaZ, and send greetings. Emmy, sister in Christ.

What is the purpose of Salvation?

?

...what is the purpose of an act of love???

Nothing more than fulfilling a loving desire I'd guess.

I'd go with this answer. Purpose is an overused word in the modern (especially the evangelical segments of the) church. None of us would dare use the word "purpose" in any of our other close familial relationships. Why with God?
