What is the purpose of a believer, according to scripture?

Once somebody believes 100%, what does God want them to do with their life? What is their purpose?
Does God want us to sell everything, give the money to the poor, and dedicate our lives solely to preaching?
What about a, 100% believer, woman's purpose?

Please base your answer on scripture, as that is the only truth I rely on. You may reply with opinion, as God gave you freedom to make your own choices, but they are not taken seriously, unless backed by scripture.

Thank you.

The "Church" if often times referred to as the body of believers. As a member of the "body" you must find the roles best suited to you. Paul tells us that we are all different members of the same body. Meaning we all do not have the same function, just like an ear can not see, and an eye can not hear, we must find the different gifts we have been blessed with and use those gifts to the glory of God.

In a phrase: Follow Jesus.

For a slightly larger expansion: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul and with all your strength. And love your neighbor as yourself."

For an even larger expansion, the Sermon on the Mount/Plain from Matthew/Luke is a good start, Matthew 25 is another excellent place to look. Romans 12 again is good stuff, as well as James ch. 2 and 1 Corinthians 13.

Hi! Well, that's something to think of but as the scripture says,

(Mat 28:19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

we are called to be part of His great commission, to share the gospel and make disciples, that means passing to them what we have learned through the scripture. But!

(Eph 4:11) It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

(Eph 4:12) to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

So we can't all go and be pastors. God has prepared a special task for every believer. We just have to seek for it.

Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.
You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body-- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.
If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
If they were all one part, where would the body be?
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
~~ 1 Corinthians 12

Above is the whole 1 Corinthians 12 which speaks of how God has assembled the body of Christ. We have all different tasks to do assigned to us by God. So wherever we are, we are called to glorify Him in any way and expand His Kingdom.

Man’s purpose has always been to Love God (and really the children he has created) with all our heart soul, mind, and energy.

In order to do that, we first must obtain this Godly type Love that allows you to be totally committed.

This Godly type Love is defined by Jesus’ words and deeds (you can also use 1 Cor 13 and 1 John 4).

Since God is “Love” and part of the definition of Godly type Love is unselfishness God is totally unselfish? If God is totally unselfish, He will do and allow all He can to help those that are just willing to accept His help fulfill their objective (Love). That “all” includes: Christ to go to the cross, satan to roam the earth, tragedies of all kind, hell, evil, and even sin.

God is not trying to trying to get us to do something, but is trying to give us the most powerful force in all universes if we will just accept the gift as it was given (charity). Having Godly Love is having the most powerful force in all universes.

Will we know people do not like to accept charity especially from a giver that paid a huge price? People will try to earn the gift, pay back the gift, be more deserving of the gift than the next person or just say they got the gift without having to accept it. The easiest way to accept the gift is through accepting God’s forgiveness (this is after you have sinned) since forgiveness is charity, grace, mercy Love. AND Jesus has taught us “…he that is forgiven much will Love much…”

The problem is God wants us to be like He is (God’s Love is compelling Him to create beings that can Love like He Loves and made these beings for the sake of those that will accept His Love).

If we continue to refuse God’s Love and really do not want to Love unselfishly, where is there for us to go? Heaven is one huge Love feast so we would not be happy there and God wants us to be happy.

Hi dewba,

When a person is truly born again to know the truth of Jesus compared to the multitudes of fake perspectives of Jesus that the world has, that person becomes rather enthusiastic to share the truth they have come to know. Mostly this is because the person is so angry at having been deceived by all the misunderstanding that is out there, so it becomes their primary task to "convert" people from thinking negatively about Jesus to thinking positively about Him, that eventually they will come to want to be born again and receive the gift of The Holy Spirit. I think this is summarized succinctly in the parable of the talents:
Notice that this doesn't mean we have to go and convert everyone we know, what it means is we take each opportunity to build upon the foundation which Jesus laid. Look at this verse:
Notice that verse four can describe present day "babes in Christ" who would say "I am of my church, all other churches are false". I hope you find this information interesting and relevant

Dear dewba. Like "Biker for Christ" says, our purpose is to be Ambassadors for Christ. Christ died that we might live, and He reconciled us to God. We are on Earth to learn to love as God wants us to love. Jesus tells us in Matthew, chapter 22, verses 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love thy God with all thy hearts, with all thy souls, and with all thy minds. The second is like it: Love thy neighbour as thyself." Then Jesus points out: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." We know that God is Love, and Jesus died out of Love for us, now we are Ambassadors for Christ, to tell the World. Love is our sword to fight with, and overcome all Evil, and Love will take us home to where we came from. We are the only representatives which God has in this World. 2) Corinthians chapter 5, verses 20-21. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.
