WHAT IS THE MEANING OF 1 Peter 3:21 ?

The like figure whereunto ( the word EVEN was added ) BAPTISM doth also now save us , ( not the putting away of the filth of the flesh , but the answer of a good conscience toward God ) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ .

#1 What does the like figure mean ?

#2 The text reads BAPTISM , is this water , I say NO !

#3 Is the Greek word BAPTIZO mean WATER , HERE ?

#4 Or does it mean NO WATER ?

#5 Does Not the putting away of the filth of the FLESH mean ?

#6 But the answer of a good conscience toward God ?

#7 By the resurrection of Jesus Christ ?

All need to check the Greek text and all will see that #3 that the Greek word here is NOT BAPTIZO / but is the GREEK word BAPTISMA and that will change what the reading of verse 21 will be .

All baptism requires water; how do you remove dirt without water? You must have water to wash away the filth, which is a image or a type of spiritual cleansing.

Strong's 908: báptisma – baptism (note the -ma suffix, emphasizing it is a result, i.e. of sincere repentance.) (báptisma) indicates submerging (dipping, immersion).

That baptism isn't just a physical rite of washing away dirt; a phsyical bathing of the flesh, but rather a spiritual rite

Good conscience toward God can only come through repentance and it is the washing of the spiritual, internal self that the baptism is cleansing. So that we are clean and renewed and reconciled to God through the washing of spirit.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. [10] For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. [11] And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Christians have atonement through the blood of Christ
We are reconciled to God by His Death
We are saved by His life.

If Christ hasn't risen then we are not saved, but the Father did resurrect Christ and by that resurrection we are saved.

In EPH 4:5 IT reads One Lord , One Faith , One BAPTISM ?

ONE BAPTISM is the Greek word BAPTISMA , so what does it mean , does ONE means ONE ?

But does ONE mean ONE when you see all the different kinds of WATER BAPTISMs there are , like in Heb 6:2 is called DOCTRINE of BAPTISMS .

In Heb 9:10 it is called VARIOUS WASHING called BAPTISMOS and their are more WASHING concerning PRIESTS as written in Leviticus , chapters 11-17 .

They passed through the Red Sea and were under the water (though they walked on dry ground) But Israel who was baptized under Moses did not receive the Holy Spirit en masse, only a select few had: Caleb, Joshua and the 70 Elders, besides Moses, Aaron and Aaron's son's of course.

The translation can also be by the cloud and by the sea. The preposition could also mean among. This was a symbol of baptism unto repentance, as we see John's Baptism; however Christ Baptized with the Holy Spirit. Both Baptisms required water. The doctrine of baptisms, plural, may be in regards to baptism as ceremonial rites, such as the Levitical washings and it can also mean the differing baptism between John and Christ.

The text of 1 Pe 3:20-21 reads: ". . .the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, an ark being prepared in which a few, this is eight souls, were quite saved through water. Which figure also now saves us, that is baptism, not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but an answer of a good conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

When you consider the grammatical construction of Peter's context above in Noah and the ark,
baptism is a figure/symbol of the water which saved eight people in the ark, where the
flood is a figure of baptism and baptism is a figure of salvation, in that in both instances,

the water that spoke of judgment (in the flood, the death of the wicked; in baptism, the death of Christ and the believer, Ro 6:2-4)
is the water that saves.

The flood symbolized baptism which symbolizes Christ's death and resurrection which saves.

"Also now saves us," in the context of the rest of the NT, means saved by what baptism symbolizes--Christ's death and resurrection (Ro 6:2-4).
This using of the symbol to refer to the reality is, as I understand it, what the Catholic church calls "sacramental union."

"answer of a good conscience toward God" is a commitment on the part of the believer in all good conscience to make sure that what baptism symbolizes in Ro 6:2-4 will become a reality in his life; i.e., that as Christ died for sin, so the believer will die to sin.

I believe that this BAPTISM should be that all are IDENTIFY with Moses , the Cloud and the SEA .

It seem to many that when they see the word BAPTISM , that it always mean WATER BAPTISM and that is NOT SO .

Notice what Eph 4:5 says , ONE LORD , ONE FAITH , ONE BAPTISMA .

So what does ONE / HEIS than mean ? Why it means ONE , and ONE BAPTISMA , than means the ONE BAPTISMA is the HOLY SPIRIT .

Acts 1:5 , reads John indeed BAPTIZED with WATER , , BUT you will be BAPTIZED with HOLY SPIRIT , not many days after ,and this verse SHOWS that when you see the GREEK word BAPTISM / BAPTIZO does not always mean WATER .
