What is the Gospel?

Matthew Mark Luke and John

A major part of Christians in the U.S. base there belief in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Their whole premise and doctrinal belief is in the 2nd chapter of Acts:

The Day of Pentecost.

I dare say 90% of American churches teach this, endlessly.

So are they Jews or members of the Body Of Christ?

Acts 3:25 says these are the Jews. ..

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Their statement of Faith is John 3:16.

Ephesian 2:
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Romans 7:4
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:27
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

I am of the uncircumcised

They are blind to the Power of the Cross But this is for me;

I thank God I am excepted in the Body of Christ.

Where do you want to be. You have a choice

Jesus" Commandments were Just as powerful and the 10 Commandments.

There is NO excuse.

Why did Jesus Command His disciples not to go to the Gentiles

Matthew 10:5-6 King James Version (KJV)

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the

Gentiles
, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

I'm not sure if you're making a statement or asking a question. The "good news" is that God has decided to leave unpunished past sins if we cease committing them and accept the sacrifice of Christ. There's a bit more to it but that's the idea.

Jesus at first only sent his disciples to the Israelites. After the crucifixion he sent them out to everyone.

Hello rhern, so, is it "Matthew, Mark, Luke and John", or is it "Acts"? (or both somehow?)

Thanks :)

Also, I posted this Paul Washer video on another thread recently, but considering the title, and more importantly, all that it has to say about this topic, I thought it would be appropriate to post it here as well (for any who have the interest and time to listen). As a word of warning, if you like having your ears "tickled", then this is not the video for you (especially towards the beginning ;)).

God bless you!

Paul defined the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15 and Romans 10:9-10.

The four gospels are accounts written about the life of Jesus rather than an explanation of the gospel itself.

When Jesus began His ministry He said to Israel, "Behold, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." He was saying, here I am, your Christ is here.

But only the remnant of His people recognized who He was. The religious leaders of Israel killed Him, as prophesied in scripture.

Israel was chosen by God to introduce Jesus to the world as God, and bare witness that He is God. Israel was to evangelize the world as His witness.

Isaiah 43:10-12
10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

But they failed, and God took the remnant that believed Him and built the Church.

Jesus only went only to the house of Israel because they were to proclaim Him to the world.

This is so True, well stated

But why did Jesus Not spend more time with the Gentiles?

I was Gods plan that salvation come officially to the Gentiles through the witness of the Jews.

Although there were many Gentiles saved before this.

I appreciate your answer but the only way a gentile can be saved is by believing in the blood shed at the cross. We are saved by believing in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection and that He is at the right hand of the Father.
