  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

YWHW God is a life giving Spirit. In the many scriptural references you quoted, that Spirit is described in masculine terms. That does not however, imply that God has a gender. Gender and masculinity are not the same thing. To say that God is male, is to define a Spiritual Being in earthly terms. Christ called God Father, and commanded us to refer to God as Father, because God is the Father of all things. Its a term that we are familiar with and can relate to. But in no way does this imply that Father God has a specific gender.

In other words God has no gender.

However, for descriptive purposes God takes the masculine.

Just as for descriptive purposes the Church always takes the feminine.

God is Spirit - not a man indeed; a gender is not involved although He discloses Himself in masculine terms but also has several feminine aspects in His character (tenderness, nurturing, etc.).

Yeshua the Son of God however is a man with a specific sex and gender as He is a human being.

To be masculine is to lead/take initiative and to give; to be feminine is to react/receive. In some ways we all have a mix of those, but the centre of gravity is different for the sexes.
