  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sin is a transgression but of what? First of all before something can be a called that there must be the awareness of right and wrong. For instance an animal may kill but there is no sin. A human who does not know any better also does not sin. If a man kills another man is it a sin? It is if the man is capable of knowing right from wrong.

One purpose of religion is to assist humanity in getting educated about these concepts. When a man is "in tune with the true teachings" he will have developed a conscience. This is the proof that he knows the difference 'tween right and wrong. For this man to kill is a great sin. Are there exceptions? yes. In war where the individual kills as part of a directed effort ordered then there is not sin. However the man may feel that there is. If this is the case then he should should listen first to his conscience.

Sinning separates us from God. That's it in a nutshell. Repentance and restitution brings us back. Can the man who is "saved" sin? Yes. When this man sins he must also repent. The instructions which define "saved" and "forgiven" are germane.

I am a Christian so I believe what the scriptures say about sin and the scriptures are not gray on it...they spell out in detail what sin is.

Sin is breaking or nonconformity to the laws of God. We go where we are told not to go. Sin is missing Gods mark. To sin is to violate God to be rebellious against Him.

So what is Gods mark? God expressed to us His own righteousness and that is the ultimate standard for our behavior. If we miss achieving this....we sin.

James 2:10 says that to sin against one part of the law is to sin against the whole law.

And, through all this, is it the prerogative of man to do violence to another man to prevent him sinning? When we kill in the name of God we please Satan and bring to the eye of God, a tear.

What is your response to this?

You cant stop another man from sinning if it causes yourself to sin.

What do you consider killing in the name of God?
