• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What is it called when you think you are God, when you obviously aren't?

I have a Christian book, Glorious Ruin, which says that everyone has a "God complex," meaning we oversell our judgements to ourselves in our minds; even 2nd guessing God sometimes. And haven't we all done that before? It's jarring to read at first, but after you think it through, it's true. In some measure, we all think like we have a God complex at times. Maybe it's just another way of saying we have a sin nature and desire to put ourselves first, in the natural.

In honesty it is but a single symptom. It may be dulusional but that would depnd on the persons defination of god. Not everyone is referring to a christian concept of God when they use that word.

It is not possible or wise to surmise what the problem may be on a single symptom but it might be worth chatting to a medical doctor if this is about someopne you care about so you can signpost them towards the right support and help.
