To be "Pentecostal" means that we believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the accompanying sign of speaking in tongues are still available to believers today. The "speaking in tongues" bothers some people, but the other gifts (miracles, prophecy, healing, etc.) are also available and at full power just as it was on the first Pentecost.

From what I can see, the differences between the denominations are this: First, they all emphasize different parts of the Gospel. Second, we each have a different style of worship. We clap, sing, shout and praise with, er, volume. Others prefer to worship with a quiet peace and tranquility. Both (in my opinion) are acceptable and "correct."

I've been a member of both kinds, and enjoyed them both. Anyway, Hope it helps.
