Well I would say that a majority of the churches here in America don’t teach the importance of obedience and the consequences of sin. I think many teach more along the lines of just do the best you can if it’s not too much of an inconvenience and you’ll be fine and that God’s only real expectation of His children is that they believe in Christ. Everything else is just optional.

I don’t think I have ever heard Israel mentioned from the pulpit.
Once recently the subject of the Lord’s return was dealt with by a retired minister who occasionally preaches. I think the present minister who was present was slightly embarrassed. Not the normal thing to do!
There is often a deafening silence in these areas in uk Baptist churches.
As regards keeping New Testament law but not the Old - what about the Ten Commandments?
Also don’t forget that Passover and the other festivals have a future prophetic
fullfillment in the life, death, and ministry of Jesus - both in His first coming and His second coming.
Christians may not be required to observe Passover but the biblical lessons are huge. Maybe we should observe Passover rather than “Easter” which was substituted for anti Semitic reasons.

I agree. This is a sad state of many of the church's thinking here in America.
Granted, we do need God's grace first, and as our ultimate foundation for our faith, but I believe they push that grace beyond what it was intended for. God's grace is not a license for immorality (Jude 1:4). God's grace is leading to a changed life (Titus 2:11-12). Surely God's grace is amazing and there is no way we can ever be forgiven by living a holy life alone without God's grace. God's grace gives us the strength and source of forgiveness to walk uprightly. Paul was able to labor more abundantly because of God's grace (1 Corinthians 15:10). The harlot woman was continually kissing Jesus' feet because her many sins were forgiven. Grace. It was grace that changed her and moved her to love.

Depends who you ask. There is an estimated 40,000 + different versions of Christianity in the world today in fulfillment of Matthew 24:24.

I am not an evangelical.

I am more aware of Buddhism because the culture is saturated with "karma, zen, feng shui, kung fu, yoga" However, I studied Buddhism. I seriously disagree with karma or "you get what you deserve." I agreed with the Christians that we are saved from our just deserts by the Grace of God.
That is the topic of this thread, what doctrine is not being taught, and I answered Pride. We are so proud of ourselves, puffed up but secretly shamed by our frailties, failings and faults. It is the Grace of God, not my so deserving good karma works. God leads me on the paths of righteousness, He restoreth my soul (to His Glory). Through Christ we are saved from sin and the wages of sin that we so richly deserve.
I am glad to talk to you. I was having a "secular day" and this thought of God lifts me up.

Feng shui and kung fu are not Buddhist, the former is traditional Chinese belief but not especially religious and the latter is set of styles of martial art of Chinese origin and also not especially religious. Yoga is Hindu in origin and karma is a Hindu concept. These are not specifically Buddhist religious concepts and even Buddhism itself is not especially theistic about religion.

But who can walk through a western English speaking land and never hear "Jesus Christ" as an expletive, nor her expressions such as "Oh my God" and "Gospel truth". Western culture is saturated with words, concepts, practises, and laws derived from Judaism and Christianity. No one brought up in a western nation can avoid exposure to Christian concepts.

You stated why I can be in it but not of it. My culture is saturated in Eastern traditions but borrowed without context or meaning. All the Christian symbols and words are given less attention than commercial messages and certainly less than rock and roll. Christianity gets lost in the kaleidoscope of modern secular blare and glare
The words "Jesus Christ" is an expletive as meaningless as the ad nauseum F word. My culture is possibly saturated with Christianity but isolated words and symbols are equally meaningless. The Bible? Fairy Tales, like Santa Claus. Yes, I can be in the culture but it is as foreign and misunderstood as Buddhism. (Karma is a key concept of Buddhism) The only difference is that Buddhism is chic, mod, hip, suave and kewl while Christianity is old fashioned and silly.
That was My Culture, as the child of the modern secular atheist where Christianity is something to be taken down and thrown out, ignored and if that can't be done, then ridiculed..
Exposure to concepts? There was an old lady who pointed her finger at us and stated "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Do you know how weird and crazy those words sound to young American heathens? We thought she was an old seriously deranged and possibly dangerous witch. We knew more about witches than Christ. That was so weird, I had to figure out what the hell (meaningless word) she was talking about and I did.

What about his burial, and resurrection? Is that not also a part of the gospel, too? (See: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Also, while I am for the necessity of God's grace, both in how we are initially, and in how we are foundationally saved, I believe there is another aspect of salvation that is not preached in the churches today (Which negates the idea that the majority of churches are not preaching a form of turning God's grace into a license for immorality on some level). Meaning: You believe that no churches out there are not preaching salvation in Christ's death alone. Well, they may not exactly preach it in that way, they essentially believe a form of this. They all believe in a form of Easy Believism or in thinking they can sin and still be saved by having a belief in Jesus. Sure, some of these groups believe that one will live holy by having a belief in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, but it is not exactly the holy living described in the Bible that I see. Sure, they may be against murder, rape, and child abuse, but they also say they can sin 24/7 in regards to other sins (like lying, lusting, hating, and cussing, etc.) and still be saved.

The aspect of salvation that is not being preached in the churches today is Sanctification (After we are saved by God's grace). This is the narrow way that Jesus talked about (Matthew 7:14). Matthew 5-7 is the sermon on the Mount. If you know anything about the Sermon on the Mount, it is about righteous living, and instruction, and not a greasy form of grace that attempts to teach a person to ignore their sin while trusting in God's grace. Whether you believe that or not does not matter. The problem is that most churches teach today a greasy form of grace in some way. Well, this is what I believe. I believe we are living in the last days as 2 Timothy 3:1-9 says. Men shall be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. They will have a form of godliness but they will deny the power thereof.

There is only one true church to God (from God's perspective). I am referring to the invisible body of believers who are truly faithful to God and not those who merely wear the Christian label and yet they did not have a true experience with God and they do not desire to truly follow Jesus as a way of life (according to what the Bible says).

We both agree on 1 John 1:10. This is a gnostic belief because we both agree that we have sinned as a part of our old life. Those who deny all forms of sin as sin being an illusion or non-existent is what 1 John 1:8, and 1 John 1:10 are referring to. For if this is not the case, then 1 John 2:4 would contradict 1 John 1:8, and 1 John 1:10. For 1 John 2:4 essentially says that the person who says they know the Lord (Jesus) and yet they do not keep his commandments, they are a liar and the truth is not in them. 1 John 1:8 is essentially saying that if a person says they have no sin (while they do happen to sin), they are a liar and the truth is not in them. It is referring to Christian Scientists today who deny sin's existence. It is referring to Eternal Security Proponents or "Sin and Still Be Saved Salvationists" who deny sin existence partially. For they believe future sin is forgiven them and that when they sin physically, they do not sin spiritually because Jesus paid for all their sins. So 1 John 1:8 is a warning against what they believe (although they will of course not read it this way and take this verse out of context).

As for Sinless Perfection: While some Christians do believe this is a salvation issue, I do not believe Sinless Perfection is salvific because I believe that the Bible teaches that reaching a state "Sinless Perfection" is about putting away sins that do not lead to spiritual or condemnation. Not all sin is the same (1 John 5:16-17). Not being baptized in this life is not a salvation issue (1 Peter 3:21). Even great men of GOD had minor character flaws that they needed to learn by and perfect in time. Yet, there is a bare minimum level requirement of holiness that a believer is supposed to meet as a part of salvation. Believers are to put away grievous sin as a part of their daily walk with GOD; For they which do certain sins like murder, hate, theft, adultery, idolatry, will not inherit the kingdom of God (See: Galatians 5:19-21, Revelation 21:8, Revelation 22:14-15).
