I'm not just saying this but take it seriously. Because He's God and He can do whatever He wishes. And because you do not know the reason doesn't mean God owes you a reason. Well, I certainly think that this is a better and more scriptural answer than... "I don't know why God saved me"... as many have been saying lately... at least you believe that you know why you're saved, right..?

because God convinced me , convicted me and converted me , faith being a gift , should you quibble because God is kind enough to save some by actually saving them ?

I agree... the Spirit of God does convict and convince... and of course faith is a gift... Christ is the AUTHOR and FINISHER of the faith that we have in God.

If you think faith starts with you then boast away , but i don't think you will .

After all this time and you still believe that I THINK that faith starts with me...? As just mentioned, the LORD is the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith. We believe in God THROUGH Jesus Christ our LORD.

I think it's simple... but there are many here who will come right out and tell you that they have no idea as to WHY God saved them.

I think that an important point in this thread is to understand that Adam could still HEAR and UNDERSTAND the voice of God - even AFTER the fall in the garden.

Yes, I know that God is working all things according to His purpose... obviously the variation comes in with respect to what we believe that His purpose actually is... and imo, it's certainly not to save one person and not afford that same grace and salvation toward the next man... for there is no difference.

God's love is a two way street... a person can love Him because of His grace, or they can reject Him and turn away from that true light which lighteth every man that comes into the world.

The early chapters in Genesis still speak very plainly today... they are just as living and powerful as when they were first scripted by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God...

Look at what it says...

And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

The LORD God called unto Adam... and Adam understood that the Lord was calling him... he hid from the presence of God, just as many continue to do today - and it is still because of deception and disobedience.

Adam represents every person in this world... that's what the bible teaches.

So is God calling Adam today... as He did in the garden many years ago... ? My response would be absolutely... because that is what the living and abiding word of God teaches me.

Adam represents every person on earth... just as Christ is the Last Adam, representing every man in the first Adam.

It only takes another chapter or two before we learn that God received a 'more excellent' sacrifice from Abel, whereas the sacrifice which Cain brought before the LORD God was... rejected...

Another simple and crystal clear biblical teaching showing us that something WHICH MAN DOES, matters to God.

It wasn't about being able (pun pun)... it was about the quality of the sacrifice which THEY presented to the LORD.

I think we all should be able to figure out why GOD accepted Abel's offering and yet rejected the offering from his brother, Cain.

..and by the way... God made coverings for both Adam and his wife... the mother of all living.

Guess that still speaks 'living' volumes as to the extent of God's covering toward fallen man... if He covered Adam... He's still providing a covering toward all in Adam today..

God can do whatever He wishes to do. Sure, He can't sin or do evil but that's a given. Apart from that, He's God and He can do whatever He wishes. And sure, at our level we know that we're saved because we believe Jesus as Lord and Savior. As far as why he passed by others and enabled me to believe, I will never know. There is no way around the fact that He did not plan to save everyone or He would have. You say people goto Hell because they deny Christ. Why that's true But guess what. God knew that from eons before creation and yet created them and allowed them to perish. In the end, God will be glorified for His justice as well as His grace and mercy.

Good for you... God enabled you to believe the gospel concerning His Son... So I'd imagine that you're pretty special for God to choose you and not others... and yet by your own admission, you don't know why, and never will.

That's your testimony... God enabled YOU to believe Him, and YOU don't know why.

that is because the question can be viewed from at least two ways , is the glass of water half empty or half full ? both

The answers to why we are saved are given , the answers to why we have been elected are also given , what is never given is the reason why God elects one person (e.g Moses) and not another person , this is beyond dispute ;

Romans 11

[28] As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
[29] For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
[30] For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
[31] Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
[32] For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

btw , the "all" in this quote is Jews and Gentiles , why not everybody ? for God has not had mercy upon everyone some are indeed cut off , which is anything but mercy ,

Moses was considered the meakest man on earth... regardless of that though, are you implying that your own view of ELECTION is beyond dispute... that it can't be wrong..?
