I just finished vol. 4 of Bavinck's Dogmatics for the second time. Right now I'm reading The Anti Capitalistic Mentality by von Mises.

I was happy to see Hendrickson was going to publish a single volume edition of “The Christian in Complete Armour” for a good price. I was going to pre-order then forgot about it so I place the order a few nights along with “Redemptive History and Biblical Interpretation” by Vos.

Got the Commentary of the New Testament Use of the Old Testament today - G.K. Beale and D.A. Carson. I've been engrossed in Scripture and this book for the majority of the afternoon. First impression, Great stuff......... a most valuable resource. I suspect this one will take precedence over the other books I got today for a while.........

The others are the Theology of John's Gospel and Letters by Andeas Kostenberger (Kostenberger was the contributor for John's Gospel in Beale and Carson's book).

and William Mounce's commentary on the Pastoral Epistles. Me being very interested in the Pastorals, a quick preview says I'm going to be in this one later on for quite a bit........ a thorough treatment of each book, including the affirmative on each being of Pauline authorship! A who's who of bibliography and references.

I've heard great things about that Beale and Carson book. Please let us know what your thoughts are when you've really gotten into it!
Hey brother, it took a bit to get to the point where I could type up some kind of a "review", although it will become painfully obvious I'm not the best reviewer...... maybe in time with some more growth.

That said, I really like the way the material is worked. Each contributor is slightly different in style, as anyone can imagine..... Blomberg, Silva, Guthrie, Carson, Beale, Kostenberger et all but the scholarship is written in a clear and understandable way that really brings out some things to think about. The references have been very enlightening for me (including the reference material from the apocrypha).

Ultimately, I decided the best thing is to give you a taste of the thing by quoting a section from D.A. Carson on 2 Peter 3. My interest in this section vs 12-13 is "hastening the coming of the day of God" vs 12 ESV in relation to "I am the LORD; in its time I will hasten it." Isa 60:22 ESV.

My apologies ahead of time for any typo's.
