What would you do if Jesus called "homosexuality" a sin that separates us from God.

  • I would abstain from homosexuality

  • I would not abstain from homosexuality

  • I would doubt the accuracy of what Jesus said and pursue a loving same-sex relationship

  • I would doubt the accuracy of what Jesus said but abstain from homosexuality out of love for my God.

  • I would what Jesus said was evil and ignore what he said.

  • I don't know.

  • I would become a non-believer in Christ.

After a lot of discussion with many of you
I had a thought pop in my mind last night. If Jesus himself was able to speak in Greek and said "homosexuality" was a sin and told people to abstain from it out of love for God, would you listen to Jesus?

Make sure you clarify it as "If Jesus said DIRECTLY while He was standing right if front of you" because otherwise everyone will call on mistranslation.

But if He said it directly to me, then okay. Homosexuality is wrong. But so far, I've only heard God say it's not.

This poll is about a matter of what Jesus said in the scriptures. I'm not looking to condemn homosexuality but to see if people could go that far with Jesus and put him first over their own needs.

I did put an option in the poll to doubt the accuracy of the scripture if Jesus happened to speak Greek and say that.

I did put two options related to the accuracy of the scriptures in the poll.
It says "doubt the accuracy of what Jesus says". That makes it sound like you're defying Christ Himself. It would sound a little less bias if it said "doubt the accuracy of what Scripture says". Either way, I'm not doing the poll because I don't plan on engaging in same sex activity but I'm not going to consider it a sin either.

If such were the case, I'd abstain from homosexual acts. However, I'd also doubt what Jesus said because I would doubt the translation of what he said into English. Who knows how people with an agenda might translate His words?

So everything in the Bible is open to question on the basis that it could have been motivated by a human agenda ?
That to me is like stating that the Bible and Christianity has been abandoned by the Holy Spirit.

Yes of course we must consider the biases of the translators when considering a translation of the Bible.

Well, I'm already not having gay sex, nor do I wish to, so it wouldn't be a huge sacrifice or anything to go with option A
Neither am I. I am bisexual but I have never had a sexual relationship with a woman. It was also easy for me to vote for the first option.

Maybe she prayed about it There's certainly a possibility that homosexuality may be a sin for one person but not another.

If Jesus popped up in my apartment and told me that being homosexual is a sin, I'd at least try to stop being attracted to the same sex. I'd use this opportunity to ask Him why, however

Nonetheless, I'm still in the camp that thinks if Jesus was actually concerned about same sex relationships (as opposed to caring for the poor, helping the sick, loving your neighbor, that sort of thing) He would have at least said something about it.

Duh! I would def flee from that sin. But considering 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 it kind of does?

I am not stating that homosexuals are on the same line as pedophiles or rapists, but if you want to state that God has made you a homosexual and that is who you are, then I think we need to take a look at God's will also in regards to rapists and pedophiles. Jesus in the NT pointedly refers to husband and wife repeatedly but never makes mention of same sex anything.

It's pretty easy for a heterosexual to "flee" from homosexuality, isn't it?

It's also pretty easy for a heterosexual to insist that homosexuals "change" to heterosexuality, isn't it?

You might try imagining what it would like to be gay; or to be gay and hear things like, "Well, you just have to change, and you can if you really want to" coming from someone who doesn't have to worry about "changing" in order to be accepted by the conservative Christian community -- but doping so would also require empathy, which seems to be in very short supply among a lot of fundamentalist, Christian conservatives.

We all have our crosses to bear. We are all tested and called upon to rise above our sinfulness. if you don't enable me than I won't enable you.

I refuse to insult you by stating that your crosses are heavier than mine just because you are a homosexual.
