My husband has done that and it's caused so much damage and destruction. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. It is not within God nature to contradict Himself. He would never ask you to do something wrong for Him.

I ditto the sentiments of most of the responders.

I am already deeply in love with someone who complements me physically, emotionally, spiritually and in every other way you can mention. But I'm already married to him, so the question is moot.

Aros love, or romantic love is a gift from God, but it is of the flesh and has no real eternal value in the end, so to go against God for the desires of the flesh is not righteous. We should think more spiritually about the matter in the end.

I would call that LUST. God does not want a spouse to leave for another. That's a lie from the other guy. Shouldn't emotionally invest time with another. It's a no-win situation in my opinion.

LOL if I honestly thought God was telling me to be with someone else, I would tell my husband that I was having a delusional episode. Then I'd see about switching my meds.

Obviously God wouldn't tell any of us to leave our spouses.... so the real question here to me is, what would I do if I fell in love with someone else? I'd likely channel those feelings and redirect them toward my husband! Or I'd figure out that I was mistaking philia (for the other guy) for something it wasn't.

People have already said what I think, but I'll add to it:

1. I don't think anyone can "know" "emotionally". Those two things don't really go together.

2. If a guy I knew expressed interest in a married woman, he would not be the guy for me.

3. I know a lot of people who are great people. Many of them compliment me mentally and emotionally. They are my friends. I don't need to leave my husband to have FRIENDS. Sheesh.

4. I don't go around testing who compliments me physically, so how exactly would I know that without cheating on my husband -- something I wouldn't do? If you just mean he's the most attractive man I've ever seen and I'm near drooling in his presence, then... eh. That kind of stuff fades, and it's certainly not worth basing a relationship on. Lust may be a nice feeling and all, but I certainly wouldn't trust it.

We shouldn't forget though that physical and mental attraction is very powerful, and before we judge others, never being in this situation, we must try and understand the temptation that some have to go through, especially if they are struggling in their marriage. We should then try not to be a person of judgment and ridicule, but one of support and strength through the their trials. The devil sets out to seek and destroy, and he sometimes uses other christians to do it.

After all the years, the effort and the tears my spouse and I spent building our relationship, I really can't see myself "falling in love" with any one just so.
