Just for fun. Let's find out what Icons everybody has?

I'll go first...

2 Of Christ

1 of Christ's Crucifixion

St. Nektarios

St. Andrew the Apostle

2 Of St. John the Baptist

2 of the Holy Virgin Mary

St. Matthew the Apostle

St. Constantine and St. Helen

And upstairs my Grandmother has two Icons of the Theotokos from her Mother, who had them from her village in Greece.

I know... not many. (And apparently I have quite a preference for the Mother of God!) Most of these are not straight-up icons mounted on wood, they're icon postcards, or icon photographs, or very tiny icons (smaller than my palm). I don't mind though, I love having pictures of my family nearby.

and a few others that either or not mounted, or I don't know how to explain them, or I don't know who is depicted in them (I have 2 that I don't know who they are)
I put the unmounted ones in frames so that they wouldn't get damaged.

I would really love an Icon of the Annunciation...for that is what my daughter's baptismal name is after. I would also love to have a Bridegroom Icon.

None. I've found many of the ones I like to be quite out of my price range.

You could get small ones. www.skete.com has many small icons that are only USD$7 each, excluding shipping. That's pretty steep, but you could just get three or four, and it wouldn't be too bad.

Maybe Skete should start doing wish-lists like Amazon.com.

I have trouble finding the ones I want.

John Chrysostom, Archangel Michael, "Sinai" Christ, and a Theotokos similar to the one in my avatar. I'm pretty picky about what's aesthetically pleasing.

Being a new convert, I don't have this many. But I have to share this. Yesterday I went over to my Mother's to "tell her" if you know what I mean, over coffee. She was quiet for a minute, and then said she would be right back. I was expecting her to go in a closet to cry or something, but she came right back with three beautiful icons that I had never seen before. She said she bought them many years ago in Greece, when my father took her on a trip there. She had them packed beautifully and carefully in a hat box.

They are gorgeous!!! They are: A triptych of Jesus, St. Demitrios (spelling?) and St. Nicholas.

They look beautiful now in my prayer corner. (I've always had one, it was just not Orthodox before! LOL! Now it is!

I've also ordered the icon of St. Columba

By out of price range i mean $50 and up.

if anyone has any particular of Chrysostom i'd be VERY interested.

These monks (Serbian) have very good icons with reasonable prices under $50 for an 8x10 inch icon.

They have a lot of Russian and Greek icons.

I have two nice 'paper' ones in frames...one of Rublev's Trinity and one of Our Lady of Vladimir. My 'wooden' ones are of St. Serphim of Sarov and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
St. Tikhon of Zadonsk is on my list!

This is now even more touching to me because of this info:
St. Nicholas, Nikolaos, is the patron saint of Greece, where his primary role is as the protector of sailors and seamen. To honor his day, small fishing boats are decorated with blue and white lights. Tradition has it that his clothes are soaked with brine, his beard always dripping with seawater, and his face covered with perspiration because he has been fighting storms to reach sinking ships and save drowning men from the sea. As master of wind and tempest, Greek ships carry an icon of St. Nicholas; sailors light a candle before the icon and pray for safe passage. When a ship is in danger the captain prays making a solemn promise to bring an ex-voto of a small ship of silver, gold, or carved of wood, if they make port safely. On return from such a voyage, the captain and sailors take the ex-voto, representing their ship, to church. In thanksgiving for their safety, they put it on a St. Nicholas icon. Revered as the great protector, St. Nicholas' feast is one of great devotion.

St. Nikolaos the Wonderworker, is called upon to preside in spirit over Orthodox meetings seeking unity among churches."

I do remember several Greek crew that I used to sail with and they had an affection for him too. Now I know why!

3 of Panagia and the Christ child, one of which is the icon Ierosolimitissa, plus at least 9 small palm size or larger. Two of them are courtesy of Oblio who brought them from Jerusalem.

3 of Panagia alone. In two she has her hands directing our gaze to her left where an icon of Christ is placed. The third is the icon Gerontissa from the Monastery Pantocrator on Mount Athos. It is unique in that is shows her whole body and she is gesturing to her right (it has a very interesting history and depicts one of the miracles she performed at the monastery)

Many of these are paper icons that have been framed. Others, particularly the small ones, are sitting on shelves around the house. I'm sure I have missed a few and I haven't even got to the icons in our car yet.

Actually, I can't remember off the top of my head which ones we have in the car so I'll just mention the ones I can remember.

What can I say, we keep discovering family members we never knew we had
