  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi Tom!

Good question!

Without having thought too long about it, what I've learned from being involved in STR is that there are real people behind the stories I read in my Church Times. Real Anglicans all over the world who are also wrestling with the things that are happening in our world today. That probably sounds stupid, but I hadn't really explored much of the online dimension of Anglicanism prior to joining CF/STR (which was back in 2004). So all of you guys were my first exposure to the international dimension of our way of being Church.

I've learned that there are some really knowledgeable people :o out there! And I've learned that we can either help each other to understand better or we can put up barriers - the power of words. I've learned that people can become really good friends over something so seemingly impersonal as the Internet. And forms of mission can and do occur.

So how have you been, brother?

Hi Karen! I've been well - I was accepted by the diocese to train for ordination, so I've just been really busy trying to sort all of that out - there's a bit of malarkey going on with training colleges, but I'm sure it'll all be sorted out. How have you been?

I think one thing I've learned is how broad anglicanism is - its an idea that is always thrown around, but on STR you really see it in action!
More specifically, I've learned about the importance of tradition.
And if it wasn't for gtsecc, I probably wouldn't have ever read any John Zizioulas!!!

That is Excellent! You will be fantastic! I've been great - just very busy! Everything is going well so far in my training.

Thats great news Tomoz.

I wouldn't worry about the goings-on at various Theological Colleges, these things have a way of working themselves out.
