When preaching the Gospel, we must use Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We then must make sure to stick to the words of Jesus, and not spin the words.

Yes, but the New Testament apostles also taught the truth of the gospel which came from God, from Jesus Christ, so we are to adhere to what they taught us, too, as the gospel of our salvation. And yes, we must not spin the words, especially not to suit the flesh of human beings.

To all which is directed to those who do not believe in Christ but who need Christ and to all who desire to believe in Christ and to those who do believe in Christ, yes, with regard to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to all instructions in holy living and obedience to our Lord. For I am certain that Jesus spoke some words to some people, and the apostles did, too, which were historical but which were for them specifically and not directed at all people. But "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

Agreed, we must use both OT and NT in sermons and preaching the Bible as a whole.
