What examples of word of knowledge can you find in scripture?

YOU have urged me to respond to your life experiences as you have listed some of them here as proof of what YOU call a "Word of Knowledge" which is one of the prominent teachings of the Word of Faith philosophy found in Pentecostalism.

To me and this is only MY opinion, but YOU seem to be arguing about this just fore the sake of arguing with ME. I am fully aware that you do not agree with my understanding of the Scriptures but I see no reason to go out of the way to create something that is not there.

I would never question the testimony of another believer as that would make me calling him a liar and that is just not my nature.

The fact is really very simple and if YOU had asked originally in a polite, Christian attitude a few days ago I would have been happy to tell you what I am going to tell you now.

YES, IMO God speaks to people today in various ways. The Holy Spirit of God directs us, motivates us, warns us and guides us in all that we do.

Can the Holy Spirit speak to you about an impending move? .....YES!
Can the Holy Spirit warn you about a car crash and save you from it? YES.
Can the Holy Spirit move you to fix something that is about to break? YES!

The list as you said can go on and on and on and it is NOT exclusive to you to anyone else my friend. The same Holy Spirit that lives in YOU lives in ALL believers and He is not a "Respecter of persons".

What I am saying to you is that what you are calling "A WORD OF WISDOM"-----
I and others call the same thing the "LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT".

Thank you Major.
Pardon my ignorance, not trying to be facetious, but correct me if I am wrong, I thought you were a cessationist.

Surely words of wisdom are listed as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, or is it only words of knowledge that have ceased.
And if so, how do you define the difference.

You are correct, I am one who believes in the Cessation of the "Sign Gifts" given to the Apostles according to the Scriptures.

Matthew 28:16-18
"Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 2:3-4.......
"how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the LORD, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will."

Those "Sign Gifts" were give to the Apostles and they are not for us today.

However that does not mean in any way that we as believers today who are filled with the Holy Spirit do not hear Him when He speaks to us.

John 16:13..........
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."

I do believe God, through the Holy Spirit, communicates directly with believers. No, I don't write these revelations in the back of my Bible and call them inspired. Neither do I run around telling everybody what "God told me."

My experience is that the Holy Spirit, at the prompting of the heavenly Father, still communicates with believers today. How does He do that? The Holy Spirit indwells me. He doesn't need my ears. What He needs is a listening heart and a renewed mind with a consciousness that is in tune with the Word of God.

Now my friend, my problem and it is a misunderstanding I think between you and me is that when someone, usually a TV personality says...............
"GOD JUST SPOKE TO ME AND SAID".

THAT right there is the "Word of Knowledge" which I think is Not Scriptural and has in fact CEASED.

I appreciate the way John Piper described his experience in hearing God speak through the Scriptures in his message “How Important is the Bible?” given at Lausanne 2010:

God talks to me no other way, but don't get this wrong, he talks to me very personally. I open my Bible in the morning to meet my friend, my Savior, my Creator, my Sustainer. I meet him and he talks to me. . . . I'm not denying providence, not denying circumstances, not denying people, I'm just saying that the only authoritative communion I have with God with any certainty comes through the words of this book.

And if we want to go back a little further, Jonathan Edwards warned:

I . . . know by experience that impressions being made with great power, and upon the minds of true saints, yea, eminent saints; and presently after, yea, in the midst of, extraordinary exercises of grace and sweet communion with God, and attended with texts of Scripture strongly impressed on the mind, are no sure signs of their being revelations from heaven: for I have known such impressions [to] fail, and prove vain.

Who are you asking your question to?

whoever it was that made claims that relate to it referring to anything other than exposing people's sin.
