What examples of word of knowledge can you find in scripture?

Off the top of my head, John 4
16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband; this you said truly.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

It is used to my knowledge in scripture to expose sin, not who needs healing. Please, provide examples from scripture of any use of the word of knowledge that you know of.

Good point. Here Jesus is using it to expose her sin and reveal her need for the Savior. I can not recall a single instance of Jesus or any Apostle saying, the Lord showed me you have a bad back etc.

On the flip side we live in a supernatural world where there are false signs and wonders. The bible does tell us about the woman with a spirit of divination. The bible tells us about soothsayers as well.

Which leads to another point. Many of these so called "prophets" going around giving words of knowledge and prophecy filled with how blessed and how your going to the nations and how your going to be wealthy.....which spirit are they prophesying in and by? When I know for a fact there are pastors stealing money, lying to people and a "prophet" comes in but never ever rebukes them...they are not prophet of God....but more like a profit.

Peter seemed to have a word of knowledge concerning the price of the property of the couple, Ananias and Sapphira, who were going to keep some of the funds for themselves when the others were turning over 100 % to the Apostles

Yes, that was a sin, they were lying. He did not have a word of knowledge on people being sick and that is the context of the OP post.

Peter seemed to have a word of knowledge concerning the price of the property of the couple, Ananias and Sapphira, who were going to keep some of the funds for themselves when the others were turning over 100 % to the Apostles

Acts 5:1-11 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE)
Ananias and Sapphira
5 But a man named Anani′as with his wife Sapphi′ra sold a piece of property, 2 and with his wife’s knowledge he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Anani′as, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” 5 When Anani′as heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. 6 The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.

7 After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” And she said, “Yes, for so much.” 9 But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Hark, the feet of those that have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all who heard of these things.

It is also a good text to show the Holy Spirit is a person because you can not lie to a force.

1 Corinthians 14:23-25 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE)
23 If, therefore, the whole church assembles and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

Sirach 1:30 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE)
30 Do not exalt yourself lest you fall,
and thus bring dishonor upon yourself.
The Lord will reveal your secrets
and cast you down in the midst of the congregation,
because you did not come in the fear of the Lord,
and your heart was full of deceit.

John 4:49 The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.”
John 5:5 One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
John 6:64 But there are some of you that do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the first who those were that did not believe, and who it was that should betray him.
Matthew 26:20 When it was evening, he sat at table with the twelve disciples; 21 and as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

Thanks All, I am simply asking for examples in Scripture were Word of Knowledge is used.

To my knowledge it was only used to expose sin.

1 Corth. 12:8..........
"And to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit".

The knowledge referred to here is a supernatural knowledge.

Then in In 1 Corinthians 13:8, we are told that knowledge shall pass away. The knowledge has to mean supernatural or special knowledge from God because knowledge in a general sense will never cease to exist. Throughout all eternity we are going to have knowledge of God and grow in that knowledge.

Before men had the New Testament, they needed those who had special knowledge from God so they would know about God and know what they were to do and not to do. Today we can examine the Word to know what God has to say.

The gift of word of knowledge was a temporary gift to establish the truth of God and mankind. This was accomplished with the canon of the New Testament. The word of knowledge was a special supernatural knowledge, not the knowledge that comes as a result of studying the Bible.

No, the word of knowledge is not just about revealing sin. It simply about otherwise hidden knowledge being revealed for any appropriate use.

Here's Jesus using various words of knowledge, all unrelated to sin.

John1v47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and He says concerning him, “Behold, truly an Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”
48Nathanael says to Him, “From where do You know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip calling you, you being under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Here's Jesus telling the disciples, as he deliberately takes his time to call on the family, that Lazarus has already died. John11v14So then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, 15and I am glad for your sake I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
Of course he then raises him from the dead.

About fishing Luke5v4And when He left off speaking, He said to Simon, “Put off into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.

You and I have argued about this elsewhere @Major1 and this is not the place to start again. Suffice it to say, contrary to your views, I reject the notion that the word of knowledge has ceased.
Before men had the New Testament, they needed those who had special knowledge from God so they would know about God and know what they were to do and not to do. Today we can examine the Word to know what God has to say.
Trying to claim that all we need is found in the bible is plain silly.
Can I find where my next car is coming from in the bible?
Can I find where to move house in the bible, the exact county, the exact village, the exact house?
Can I find accurate road directions to an unknown location in the bible?
These are serious questions that God answered through words of knowledge, including being my precision Satnav for 60 miles when he took me to find somewhere completely unknown.
The gift of word of knowledge was a temporary gift to establish the truth of God and mankind.
No. The word of God was about anything that God revealed for any purpose, (including finding Saul's father's asses).
This was accomplished with the canon of the New Testament. The word of knowledge was a special supernatural knowledge, not the knowledge that comes as a result of studying the Bible.
There are millions of Christians out there who regularly receive words of knowledge from the Lord. That includes myself and my wife and all the people I regularly fellowship with.

Words of knowledge, hidden things revealed by the Holy Spirit are normal Christian life for many of us. The same is true for all the other gifts of the Spirit like prophecy, dreams, visions, tongues etc which we regularly move in.

These are just a few of those words which God has revealed.-
Being told directly by the Lord to sell up and move house 320 miles to the north of England.
And when my wife and I accepted that word before the Lord, I then walked out the front door of the house and sold it five minutes later at full price to a complete stranger passing by! And he approached me!

Being told by the Lord to urgently phone a brother (who I barely knew) who lived hundreds of miles away, to offer him a job. He then breaks down on the phone because he has just that day lost his job.

Being told by the Lord to send a financial gift to a distant brother, and then being told that it was the exact figure he was praying for in order buy another car.

Being told what had broken inside one of my production machines, and how to fix it.

Being given a dream about what was causing a massive two boiler heating system to constantly fail, when even the specialists couldn't resolve the problem.

Being warned in advance of an impending crash ahead, a warning that saved my life.

The day after I knew I was going to get married again, I called a Christian brother into my office and told him my good news. His reply was, "I know that and I've known it five or six weeks. Remember when I called in your church that time? I sat down and the Lord said to me, 'that's FDs knew wife.' I couldn't tell you until you realised it yourself!"

My friend knew nobody in that church and his visit had been brief. But not only that, but that visit was long before my courtship even started.
My fiance and I for various reasons needed to keep quiet about our engagement, but when my friend turned up the following week, he immediately pointed her out across the room.
It was truly excellent having our relationship confirmed by the Lord!

The list is endless. Some of us live by words of knowledge of totally hidden stuff revealed by the Holy Spirit.

I urge you @Major1, don't let your theology rob you of the wonderful blessings of the gifts of the Spirit. Such things are not a challenge to understanding scriptures, but they run hand in hand for the body of Christ to grow by.

I also reject the notion that ANY of the New Testament gifts have "ceased"...

Getting a New Testament was not "the perfect" that came -- look around, are things in this world PERFECT?

There is a time yet coming when THE PERFECT will come -- yes, then word of knowledge, tongues, etc will cease...

Aint happenned yet, though.

I used to go in college to a Christian CoffeeHouse, was a regular there, some were charismatics, some were not, the Director was definitely a Cessionist/Cessationist -- me and other charismatics willingly agreed that we would not push GIFTS to anyone coming in the CoffeeHouse, our witnessing was no different than the non-charismatics.

So one evening in the prayer meeting/staff meeting before the doors were open to the general public, the Director (a college student himself) was really on a roll -- showing everyone a new LEATHER BIBLE COVER he had for his Bible -- latches and snaps that held the cover together -- quite a piece. Then he got on his soapbox - looking right at me -- and launched into the spiel of THAT WHICH IS PERFECT had already come...

"And what was THE PERFECT?" (he was RAMMIN' IT HOME!)
And he shoved his Bible in my face and said :

"THIS !!!"

And Rick, a charismatic sitting next to me -- immediately quipped to the Director --

"What? Your LEATHER BIBLE COVER?"

Meeting dismissed immediately. Me, Rick and another guy stumbled to an upstairs room and just fell about the place laughing. We rolled helpless til time to witness to the visitors.

The OP was about EXAMPLES of Word of Knowledge - one sub-theme was that it was ONLY used to expose sin, no, no it wasn't.

Now we have a drift of Cessionism...

Agabus had a word of knowledge that if Paul went to Jerusalem, he would be bound; that happenned. It wasn't an exposure to sin, just the reality of Paul's fate. Agabus was also the New Testament prophet who predicted a famine that did indeed come to pass.

Word of Knowledge CAN be an exposing of sin, sure, like Ananias and Sapphira -- but it is not LIMITED to that.

And neither has it - or the other gifts - "ceased".

1 Corth. 13:10. ......
But when that which is perfect (Greek: "teleion" meaning complete) is come, then that which is in part shall be done away (Greek: "Katargetheseta" meaning to render inoperative).

Prophecy and knowledge, both being ""in part"", will be done away with when the perfect shall come.

When does the perfect come?

a) If it is the second coming of Christ, then prophecy, tongues and knowledge are allowable today and that is YOUR position.

b) If it is the completed New Testament Scriptures of 96 AD then prophecy, tongues and knowledge have all ceased in the first entury and are not for today and that is MY position..

To answer the question, we must ask another question: What is "that which is perfect?"

Several opinions are:
1. Jesus Christ at His second coming.
2. the perfected state of the believer at Christ''s return.
3. After the millenium in the new heaven and new earth.
4. the completed New Testament Scriptures.

Consider these reasons why the perfect refers to the completed New Testament scriptures:

1. "When that (Greek: To Teleion) which is perfect is come",
The pronoun "THAT" in Greek, describing the perfect, is neuter.

Christ however is masculine, not neuter, so "that which is perfect" cannot refer to Christ or His return. The Bible is neuter. This fits the context perfectly.
