I think trust doesn't mean lack of anxiety etc, it could save you stress yes, but it means you are sure in your heart God is with you and loves you and knows you, like when you trust a person you like, living in your house or something.

I sometimes pray that God gives me the trust David had in Him at least a bit, even after he sinned horribly his trust in God was the same.
When he was persecuted with armies and enemies, his trust in God said He would back him up etc and defend him.

Does this mean your never anxious or worrying?

Could someone put trusting in God in practical steps?
Well, I made a devotional or three on how we can trust in God. It can be hard to trust in God during these strange times, but in the end, if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then we already have trust in God. Remember, that God's Son went through much more hardship compared to us, when He was nailed to the cross. We have a pretty easy life. We may always continue to have anxiety, as we live in a fallen world, but the more one trusts in God, the more the anxiety is reduced or alleviated.

What is our deepest fear? What is the worst thing that can happen to us? Death. We have a natural desire for life without pain and suffering.

God is in control of everything .... He allows things to happen or not ... we are not privy to His decisions.

Colossians 1:17, “And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

We are not to be anxious or to worry about our earthly life because we look forward to eternal life with the Lord ... an eternal life without pain and suffering. We know, by scripture that we are living on a spiritual battlefield on planet earth. We know in our current earthly life we will have tribulations ... even so ... we are to remain focused on the greater good yet to come (eternal life with the Lord)

Trust is believing God will do exactly what He says He will do and that is some day we will live in a perfect word with Him for eternity.

We often lose sight of the higher result that will occur when Jesus returns. God is going to resolve all issues one day ... He is the only one that can (because He is our creator and sustainer) ... only He has righteous judgement and the power over eternal life or eternal death ... because He is the creator and sustainer of all things.

You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth.

Colossians 3:1-2 (GNT)

Jesus died for us so we may have eternal life with Him in a new perfect world yet to come.

Looking forward to His return and ends all the pain and suffering for eternity.

Here is a short article, "All In" from Christian Pioneer - Current blog

All In

Poker players can reach a point where they commit all of the cash they have to bet on one hand. They push their chips to the center of the table and declare “all in”. If they loose, they loose all they have. In previous generations phrases like “betting the farm” or “do or die” have also been used to convey a total commitment. This concept would be the opposite of “hedging your bets”.

Marriage used to be seen as something that was undertaken with a view towards permanence. Many people today enter into marriage thinking that if things don’t “work out”, they can pursue other options, not fully understanding the price one pays in going through a divorce.

Many of those today who call themselves Christian also often have only a partial investment in their faith. They may view their church membership as a sort of fire insurance to avoid some vague prospect of afterlife penalty. James warns those administering the church who seem to have no observable influence of Christ in their lives by asking if such a “faith” can save them. He further declares that “belief” is an insufficient substitute for faith (James 2:19).

This can be an alarming revelation for the Christian who was under the impression that an acknowledgment of the historical existence of Jesus constituted salvation. Christians who rest in the assurance that their faith has been confirmed by some act or meeting some criteria may consider the admonition Paul gave the Corinthians to examine themselves to see if they were in the faith.

Many Christians that do not have actual faith go “all in” for church activity and business. These are those who will be mystified to stand in front of Christ being judged for their works (Matt 7:22-23). Even some who go “all in” for seminary and become well versed in theology miss the mark. This type of “commitment” (without faith) is works oriented and tends to build up pride often leading to contempt for others (Luke 18:9).

In Hebrews we learn that without faith it is impossible to please God. Therefore establishing this foundation first is critical to living a life “all in” for God. This trust in and reliance upon God is manifest in humility and love. Without this faith, going “all in” often results in an embarrassing level of self-aggrandizement (Matt 6:2).

The Christian walk is supposed to be one of growth and maturation (Eph 4:15 , 2 Pe 1:8). However, Christians can get stuck and fail to grow (1 Cor 3:1 Heb 5:12). There comes a point where a Christian has to decide if he wants to live for Christ. This is sometimes called discipleship. It is described as a singular point of action by the aorist verb tense (Ro 12:1, James 4:7). Those who are Christian but neglect him in this life will be shamed in the next (1 Cor 3:15).

Going “all in” for Christ is a call to discipleship. Not activity, accomplishment, study, or mastery, it is a decision to relinquish control of one’s life and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us towards greater Christ-likeness. Some can be driven to this point by crisis such as in a hospital or jail. However, those who know Christ and thirst for truth, wisdom, love, and righteousness can also be drawn to follow him in discipleship.

We always have anxiety and worry.

My short version is...

Trusting God is caught not taught. Either you live it out or you don't. There's no secret formula, but the Lord Jesus highlighted points in his Sermon on the Mount. God may test us to see if we really mean business with him. When we do, that's trust. Not getting all your prayers answered takes trust. Yet we are to ask, seek, knock - for how long? Facing difficulties takes trust. Anxiety and worry can be controlled with trust, but it has to be cultivated.

The most known trust couplet...

[Pro 3:5-6 NIV] Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Amen to this. :)

Here is what Proverbs 3:5-6 means:
This passage encourages us to trust fully in the Lord and not rely on our own wisdom or understanding. It also urges us to submit our ways to God, who will make our paths straight. This means that when we choose to follow God's will, we can trust that He will guide us and lead us in the right direction.

We first trust God while we need much correction. We trust Him to deeply correct us so we get free of fear > 1 John 4:18. Hebrews 12:4-14 shows how trusting God includes depending on Him to correct our character to become like Jesus.

And Jesus does not fear.

But since we are not perfect, we can still give in to fear and worry and lusts and arguing and complaining. But we trust God to change us so we are and love like Jesus, instead.

We put away evil things, and we love as family. This means we put away bad stuff, by trusting our Father to remove bad stuff and to have us loving as His family >

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

So, our trusting God more and more becomes a family sharing and caring thing with us helping one another.

I like to keep things simple, here’s how I think in regards to your question:

- thoughts in your head can tell you untruths, believe in His truth
- Feelings can lie to you

Trusting in Him is knowing His word and knowing He will do what He says He will do.

- all fall short ~ it’s a mini quote of scripture but it’s telling you that you will never be perfect or do perfect
- I will never leave you nor forsake you ~ it’s telling you that if you believe in Him, then He walks with you through life’s good and bad, you may stumble and even fail, but He’s always with you
- the Father and Son are one ~ again mini quote telling you that God knows what it’s like to be human because He was here and gave His life for all of us.
- there will be no condemnation ~ your sins are forgiven

On a personal note don’t over question the Bible.
Just keep it simple and live in truth
