What does 'Original Sin' mean?

When one reads in the NT about Mary,
it is said that she gave birth to Jesus
without 'Original Sin'. Right?

It is written that Mary gave birth to
Jesus as a virgin.

Does that imply that Sex is a great sin,
even 'The Original Sin'?

If yes: How come?.

It had nothing to do with sex at all. The virgin birth was necessary due to the curse God placed on Jeconiah (Jehoiakim) and his descendants.

The phrase "original sin" is never found in the Bible. Not everyone has the same opinion about what it is.

What the Bible does say is that everyone is born with a nature that leads us to sin and we are all guilty.

Jesus was born without that sin nature because he is God and was conceived by the Holy Spirit rather than by a human father. Sin can only be atoned for by the blood of an innocent sacrifice and human sin requires that that sacrifice be human; Jesus meets these qualification and therefore was able to pay for our sins when he was crucified; his resurrection proves that God accepted his sacrifice.

Because of what he did we can be forgiven if we repent of our sins and put our faith in him.

I agree there had to be the first sin by humans and you could call it “original”, but there is no reason to “blame” Adam and Eve for anything. The Garden was a lousy place for humans to fulfill their earthly objective.

The Bible just tells us our knowledge changed with the first sin, but that does not mean our nature changed.

Original sin is known in two senses: the Fall of Adam as the "original" sin and the hereditary fallen nature and moral corruption that is passed down from Adam to his descendants. It is called "original" in that Adam, the first man, is the one who sinned and thus caused sin to enter the world.

No, you have been misinformed that is not in the NT.

No it does not. Sex is only considered sinful if it happens outside of the context that God intends for it to occur. This is possibly true of all sin. It is not so much the action itself but the perversion of the action so that it is contrary to God's stated preference for the way in which the action ought be carried out that makes something a sin.

Original Sin, at its most basic level, is a reference to the original sin of Adam and Eve; their act of disobedience.

As a matter of theology it addresses the fundamental problem of sin and death in the world; that as human beings we are born into a world laboring as it is under the problem of sin and death and/or that we are ourselves, in our humanity, broken and wrecked by the problem of sin and death.

Exactly how "Original Sin" gets defined generally depends on who you ask.

The Eastern Churches (e.g. Eastern Orthodoxy) do not speak of "Original Sin" as such, but instead of Ancestral Sin, namely the first or ancestral sin of Adam. In the Eastern understanding the original act of sin introduced sin and death into the world, and as such human beings are born into a world in which these are the very present and unavoidable reality.

The Western Churches (e.g. Protestantism and Roman Catholicism) have historically spoken of Original Sin as involving an inherited concupiscence, an intrinsic brokenness in human nature itself that is bound and entwined with selfish, self-directed desire, the "lusts of the flesh".

Dear Pink Spider. I believe Original Sin means First Sin, It was when Adam and Eve believed the Serpent, rather than God. If Adam and Eve had Loved God as they should have done, they would never have fallen for the lies which the Serpent told them. God wants our Love, freely given and NO condition tagged on. Jesus tells us in Matthew 22: 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. The second is like it: Love our neighbour as we love ourselves."
Then Jesus states this great truth: " On these two Commandments, hang all the Law and the Prophets."
The Bible tells us also: " Repent and be Born Again," God wants us to give up all selfishness, and start loving and caring for our neighbour. Love God first with all our beings, and love our neighbour as we love ourselves, that includes the occasional hand, as we would like sometimes.
In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told: " ask and ye shall receive," then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. We keep asking for Love and Joy, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour,
meaning all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. God sees our loving efforts, and God will approve and bless us. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and caring. Jesus our Saviour will help and guide us, JESUS IS THE WAY.
God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters.

Original sin refers to the innate predisposition of humans to sin. Historically it has been understood to result from Adam & Eve's first sin in the Garden of Eden.

Obviously, the theory of evolution creates certain difficulties for that understanding. That is why the Catholic Church, which is probably the church which has least difficulty with evolution, nevertheless officially insists that Catholics must believe in a historical Adam and Eve. It doesn't specify how Catholics are supposed to square that circle.
