The superficial answer is “Breaking of God’s law.”

The deeper answer is “Sinning is the state or condition of all man.”

For example, a fish swims and a sinner sins. Everyone is born into a condition called sin (Except for Jesus who is without sin).

No one can escape this condition by obeying the law or doing righteous works. The bible compare the righteousness of a sinner to a filthy rag.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The law was given to make everyone aware that he/she is a sinner.

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

The law cannot save anyone. But the law is necessary. Because without it, everyone will not know what is sin. Resulting in not having the need for a saviour (Jesus).

That is one side of the coin - the negative side. What is the other side?

Well I do agree with everything except the definition of sin as the breaking of God's law is not a superficial answer. It is the exact definition the bible gives so you can't call it superficial

Sinners will never ever see God.

That may be too broad of a statement. Alaric covered it well. A. No one has ever and never will see the Creator-God ("no one has seen God at any time", the Bible states), but redeemed souls will see God's beloved Son, the Lord Jesus, in Heaven and be accepted by our Father-God there and hear Him speaking; B. Every lost sinner will stand at the "Great White Throne" in the air before the Lord Jesus and be sentenced to Hell fire. C. We are all sinners by nature and birth, but a "born again" saint (as John 3) is forgiven and sealed as a "child of God"; and we continue to sin for we always have the flesh in this world. D. Saved souls can and need to confess their sins daily and thus be restored by grace for blessings and the favor of our God ---else will "...suffer loss" of rewards in Heaven.

That is a more complete picture of the relationship, I see.

A sinner is one who sins willingly thus making them sons and daughters of the father of lies who has sinned willingly from the beginning

God says even "...the thought of foolishness is sin", and a lie is sin. That is often done "willingly" when any true "born again" saint acts carelessly ---even as you and I do. We do not arrive at perfection in our STATE (which varies at times), though a true saint HAS A PERFECT STANDING FOREVER IN CHRIST. We need to make the distinction between Standing and State ---right?

As a son of God we have right standing before Him. Our spiritual state is a New Creation through the righteousness of Christ Jesus.

In the universal sense, sin is anything that misses the mark whether in terms of doing what we are not to do or not doing what we ought to do. Under that standard only Jesus is sinless and those whom He imputes (reckons) that sinlessness to through faith.

So in the broadest sense, 'what does it mean to sin?' It means to reject Jesus, thus rejecting that one and only covering for our son.

God loves us through Jesus Christ he loves the sinner NO MATTER WHAT THERE SIN

He loves the sinner in as much as He has provided a sacrifice which a sinner must accept and then repent from the sin. God is also a judge of the unrighteous. Reject the sacrifice of His son and there is no forgiveness of sin. Acts 2:38.

I hope you won't make the common mistake in understanding this verse, which is to think that it is saying our righteousness is actually morally wrong. Christians assign a moral meaning to "filthy" but this is not appropriate in the case of Isaiah 64:6. The idea of a "filthy rag" is that it is useless, not that it is immoral. I don't look at a rag soaked with dirt and oil and think, "Goodness! What an evil rag! How wicked this rag is!" That would be silly, right? It's just a dirty rag; it has no moral character. No, instead, I simply throw the rag away since it can no longer serve any useful purpose. This is what Isaiah is indicating. While our deeds might be moral, while they might be righteous, they don't serve a spiritually useful purpose. Our iniquity has soiled all we do, spoiling our righteousness, emptying it of any eternal spiritual value. Isaiah is not saying, though, that our righteous deeds are actually unrighteous, that they are immoral. That would make saving a person, say, from being raped an evil act. Surely, it is obvious that such thinking is in serious error. But, strangely, many Christians adopt the notion from Isaiah 64:6 that everything a person may do who is guilty of breaking God's law is evil - even when those things accomplish clearly morally-good ends (like saving a person from drowning, or giving money to the poor, or helping an elderly neighbor get her groceries, etc).

However God can have mercy on an individual. For instance Enoch walked with God and was not for God took him. Elijah was taken up live into heaven.

And this, again, belongs in a theology forum not a new christian forum.

From my understanding
There are two general laws
1. Love God above everything
2. Love your fellow man as you love yourself.

For those who cant comprehend this and need clarity there are 10 commandments which expand on this.
1 to 4: how to Love and Honor God as He desires
5 to 10: how to love your neighbor

For those who cant comprehend that and need clarity there are 216 laws (maybe more) which details all the conduct, customs and rituals of love.

I think the laws which say DON'T DO this or that should always stand. As well as if God says he HATES something you should probably stay far away (whether Jew or Gentile Christian). U know.. Just be safe. If He hates it then He definitely hates it now... I'm just saying
