  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does it mean to believe?

Some Christian denominations teach that all one has to do is pray to images or say a short recitation acknowledging that he or she is a sinner....but is that belief

Romans 1:16
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth”

Abraham believed and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Romans 4:3
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Must a person attend church regularly and be “involved” in the “church” in order to 'believe'....

The Bible says, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" Acts 16:31

“Belief” appears to be necessary for a person to gain eternal life! But does one just have to “think” or “utter” the words, “I believe” and they are automatically saved? Is it that easy? What does it mean to “Believe”?

Belief is acting as if God was really for real about all His promises. It's like if you invited friends over for dinner- suppose they brought their own food in baggies, stuffed in their pockets. When you asked them why they did that, they said, "We weren't sure we would really be fed." How would that make you feel?

I think unbelief is anything we do, say or think that makes God feel like we don't really trust Him. Belief is the opposite of that.
