What does it mean Hebrews 10:25?
In order to figure out this, we need to read all the excerpt:
• Heb 10:19 -> “Having therefore, brethren, boldness for entering into the holy of holies by the blood of Jesus,”.
• Heb 10:20 -> “the new and living way which he has dedicated for us through the veil, that is, his flesh,”.
• Heb 10:21 -> “and having a great priest over the house of God,”.
• Heb 10:22 -> “let us approach with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, sprinkled as to our hearts from a wicked conscience, and washed as to our body with pure water.”.
• Heb 10:23 -> “Let us hold fast the confession of the hope unwavering, (for he is faithful who has promised
”.
• Heb 10:24 -> “and let us consider one another for provoking to love and good works;”.
• Heb 10:25 -> “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom is with some; but encouraging one another , and by so much the more as ye see the day drawing near.”.
• Heb 10:26 -> “For where we sin wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains any sacrifice for sins,”.
First of all, we need to draw near to the Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was the place from where the Creator manifested to the priests (Numbers 7:89). So, the Hebrews was being invited to enter into the place where they could hear Jesus’ voice and have intimacy with Him.
Nonetheless, for this, it was necessary go through the “veil”. And the way is the Body of Christ (the Church) and His blood. Nonetheless, how can we walk in the Church? Through Jesus Christ, our High Priest. That is to say, we need to offer our life as a sacrifice living, holy and acceptable to the Creator (Rom 12:1), welcome those who Jesus put in our life to be His Church in us and hand out with them all the gifts (see Rom 1:11) and teachings that Jesus granted us.
But, in order to do this, we need to approach having:
• a true heart:
o Rom 12:9 -> “Let love be unfeigned; abhorring evil; cleaving to good:”.
• full assurance of faith:
o Heb 11:6 -> “But without faith it is impossible to please him. For he that draws near to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them who seek him out.”.
• purified our hearts from a wicked conscience:
o Heb 9:14 -> “how much rather shall the blood of the Christ, who by the eternal Spirit offered himself spotless to God, purify your conscience from dead works to worship the living God?”.
• washed our body with pure water:
o Eph 5:25,26 -> “Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it, in order that he might sanctify it, purifying it by the washing of water by the word,”.
• fast the confession of the hope unwavering, (for he is faithful who has promised
:
o 1Pe 3:15 -> “but sanctify the Lord the Christ in your hearts, and be always prepared to give an answer to every one that asks you to give an account of the hope that is in you, but with meekness and fear;”.
And the aim of the communion in the Church is to:
• consider one another for provoking to love and good works (as it was doable to see in the brothers of Macedonia):
o 2Co 8:1-5 -> “But we make known to you, brethren, the grace of God bestowed in the assemblies of Macedonia; that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty has abounded to the riches of their free-hearted liberality. For according to their power, I bear witness, and beyond their power, they were willing of their own accord, begging of us with much entreaty to give effect to the grace and fellowship of the service which was to be rendered to the saints. And not according as we hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord, and to us by God's will.”.
• encourage one another , and by so much the more as ye see the day drawing near:
o 1Th 5:11 -> “Wherefore encourage one another, and build up each one the other, even as also ye do.”
o Heb 3:13 -> “But encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called To-day, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”.
And the reason for this is:
• Heb 10:26 -> “For where we sin wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains any sacrifice for sins,”.
Now I believe that it is feasible to understand the verse below:
• Heb 10:25 -> “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom is with some;”.
That is to say, considering that the day of Jesus’ coming is drawing near, we need to stay close to those who the Creator give to us to make up our Church (congregation). The proclivity of people is to throw over those who are rebels, difficult to cope with.
In the end, have a good day don’t casting off these people who put you in trouble. This disturbance should be looked on an opportunity to procure a true heart, exercise the faith (1Pe 1:6,7) (and, with this, to have the heart purified from a wicked conscience and the body cleaned from the dirtiness which comes from debaucheries and revelries) in order to keep sturdy our hope, confessing it in every situation.
