  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've also heard that it is Greek shorthand for "Jesus".
Greek shorthand for Jesus Christ= IC XC

It is frequently seen like this: IC XC NIKA or "Jesus Christ Conquers"

IC XC NI KA is pressed onto the prosphora with a special seal. The part of the prosphora with the seal is cut out and used for Holy Communion.

Tempted to say that it means "In His Service",
Probably not since this was probably around before the English language :).

but actually it's Greek and it's the first three letters of the name of Jesus--Iota, Eta, Sigma.
this makes a lot of sense, except I do not understand where the "h" comes in?
But if this is right its like if in English we abbreviated Jesus' name like "Jes."

In Greek, "JESUS" is spelled IHSOUS, the second letter eta looking like the letter H. "Iesus Hominum Salvator" was a later Latin interpretation, but like the New Advent article said, it's the first three letters of Our Lord's name in Greek.
